CATDOLL: What can fish eat? Introduction to the four types of fish diet

There are four types of fish feeding habits. Filter-feeding fish feed on plankton, bacteria and organic debris. Herbivorous fish eat aquatic higher plants and also eat algae. Carnivorous fish feed on insects and aquatic animals. Omnivorous fish have a wider diet and can eat aquatic plants and animals. Artificially raised fish can eat artificial feed after training. 1. Introduction to feeding habits There are four types of fish feeding habits, namely filter feeding, herbivorous, carnivorous and omnivorous. Filter-feeding fish use gill rakers to leave plankton, bacteria and organic debris in the water. Silver carp and bighead carp, two of the four major carps, eat in this way. Herbivorous fish feed on aquatic higher plants and also eat algae and submerged terrestrial plant leaves. The most common representative fish species is grass carp. There are many carnivorous fish, which usually feed on insects and other aquatic animals. Omnivorous fish have a wide range of feeding habits and more species.

2. Feeding methods for ornamental fish 1. Feed selection: There are many types of ornamental fish, but most of them are omnivorous fish, so the feed selection is relatively wide. However, they are usually fed with artificial feed, which can be granular or flake. It should be noted that the size of the feed should not exceed the fish's mouth, otherwise it will not be able to eat it. It should be changed regularly. Feeding the same kind of feed for a long time can easily make the fish picky.

2. Feeding interval: Fish can be fed once a day or once every three days. Frequent feeding will make fish grow faster, but feeding too much will also upset their stomachs and cause enteritis. Pay attention when feeding. When fish are not swimming fast when grabbing food, it means they are full and you don't need to continue feeding.

3. Cleaning up the leftover bait: If you feed some bottom-sinking feed and the fish don’t grab it, it will become leftover bait. Leaving it in the water for a long time will cause water pollution. Therefore, you can raise some bottom-dwelling fish to clean it up, or you can pump water from the bottom to drain it out when changing the water.
