What breed of laying duck is best?

1. Shaoxing Duck

Shaoxing duck, also known as Shaoxing Mallard, is a famous egg-laying duck breed in my country. It has the advantages of small size, early maturity, high egg production, low feed consumption, strong disease resistance and wide adaptability. It is mainly distributed in Shaoxing, Shangyu, Xiaoshan and Zhuji in Zhejiang Province, and has been introduced and raised in more than 20 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions across the country.

After long-term purification, rejuvenation, and pure line selection, Shaoxing ducks have formed two strains: the ringed white wing tip type and the red-haired green wing tip type. The adult weight is 1.45 kg for male ducks with rings and 1.5 kg for female ducks; 1.5 kg for male ducks with red hair and 1.6 kg for female ducks. Female ducks reach sexual maturity at 132-135 days of age, and the egg production rate reaches 50% at 140-150 days of age; the ratio of male to female is 1:20-30. Jinding duck is an excellent egg-laying duck breed in my country. It is native to Jinding Township, Longwan County, Fujian Province and the lower reaches of Jiulong River, including the suburbs of Xiamen.

After years of breeding, the Jinding duck has basically the same body shape, feather color and eggshell color, and stable genetic performance. The adult weight of male ducks is 1.5-2.0 kg, and that of female ducks is 1.5-1.7 kg. Female ducks start laying eggs at 110-120 days old, and the cumulative egg production at 500 days old is 260-280 eggs, with an egg weight of 70-72 grams, and the eggshell is mainly cyan.

3. Cuckoo Campbell Duck

Originated from the United Kingdom, it is a world-renowned excellent egg-laying duck breed with excellent characteristics such as wide adaptability, high egg production, high feed utilization rate, strong disease resistance and good meat quality.

The Cage Campbell duck is large in size, close to the size of a dual-purpose duck, but has good egg-laying performance and a docile temperament, making it suitable for captivity. The adult weight of male ducks is 2.3-2.5 kg, and that of female ducks is 2.0-2.3 kg. Female ducks start laying eggs at 120-135 days of age, with an average annual egg production of 250-270 eggs weighing 70-75 grams and white eggshells. The meat is fresh and has a strong aroma.

4. Double yolk duck eggs

It is a specialty of Gaoyou, Yangzhou. It is named because there are two yolks in one egg. Ducks have double yolks because the food here is good, the ducks are strong, and they ovulate continuously, forming double yolks or even triple yolks. Gaoyou salted duck eggs are famous for their red color and rich oil. When you boil and cut open a double yolk salted duck egg, the egg white is like solidified white jade, and the egg yolk is like red orange, which is pleasing to the eye and has a unique flavor.
