Below what temperature will locust eggs not hatch or die?

Female grasshoppers begin to lay eggs around July 10. Their ovipositors are short and curved, with two pairs of hard chisel-shaped ovipositors, which they use to drill holes in the soil to lay eggs. While laying eggs, they secrete a gelatinous liquid, which solidifies to form a water-resistant protective layer outside the eggs, surrounding the eggs into an egg mass to protect the eggs from wintering. Grasshopper breeding technology 1. The value of grasshoppers Grasshoppers are rich in active substances such as protein, carbohydrates, insect hormones, and contain a variety of vitamins and elements such as phosphorus, calcium, iron, zinc, and manganese. Grasshoppers are also good medicines for treating diseases. The Compendium of Materia Medica records that grasshoppers can be used alone or in combination to treat a variety of diseases, such as tetanus, infantile convulsions, fever, asthma, tracheitis, and cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. 2. Construction of breeding sheds Grasshoppers have the habit of flying, so they must be raised in a shed. The breeding shed should be built in a ventilated and sunny place, and the ground should be 10 cm higher than the surrounding ground for drainage. It is best to use sandy loam that is not easy to clump to facilitate the picking of grasshopper eggs. Plant monocots such as wheat or corn in the breeding shed for grasshoppers to eat. Every 10,000 grasshoppers requires an area of 15 square meters. You can use the free space inside and outside the yard to build the shed support with angle iron or wooden sticks, bamboo poles, bamboo strips, etc. According to the size of the shed, use a gauze to make a shed cover, bury the bottom edge in the ground, and leave a door. Install a zipper at the door to prevent grasshoppers from escaping. The shed is 1.5 meters to 2 meters high, and a plastic film can be covered outside the shed to prevent rain and keep warm. The shed must be built before the end of April. 3. Breeding and management The starting temperature for grasshopper development is 15℃, the highest temperature for development is 40℃, the suitable temperature for development is 25℃ to 32℃, the relative humidity of the air is 85% to 92%, and the moisture content of the soil is 15% to 18%. Spread 3 to 5 cm of soil in the container and pat it down, evenly spread the grasshopper eggs on the soil, and cover it with 1 cm thick mixed soil. Cover the container with a film and check it once every half a day. After finding the small grasshopper, use a soft brush to brush it onto the food in the shed. The hatching is completed in 10 to 15 days. The young grasshoppers like to eat fresh wheat seedlings, corn seedlings, weeds and other monocotyledonous plants, and their appetite is very small.

Why do mantises and locusts overwinter their eggs?

There are too many types of locusts, and most of them in my country cannot survive the winter. They usually lay eggs in the soil.

There are many species of mantises. Most species in my country can live to the end of October in nature, and can live to January of the following year if the temperature is suitable for artificial breeding. I also have a European mantis now.

Mantis eggs will hatch if the temperature is right. If you have eggs now, it is best to store them outdoors. If you turn on the heating indoors in winter, the mantis may hatch, but they will starve to death without food.

This is also

Biological evolution

result.

If it hatches early, the temperature is so low, its larvae (strictly speaking,

Nymph

) will die due to lack of food and low temperature. Then its species will not be able to continue.

If the eggs hatch before wintering,

The young can't stand the low temperature and die.
