CATDOLL: Snail Breeding Manual (Electronic Version of Snail Breeding Manual)

1. How to raise small snails?

We all like to keep some pets, because pets can bring people happiness and help their owners eliminate some loneliness. However, some people want to keep small snails, so how should snails be fed?

Step 1: First, you need to find a box, preferably a sealed box with a lid (must be breathable). If you don’t have one, you can also use an open box and cover it with a layer of net to prevent the snail from crawling away.

Step 2: Then put paper towels on the bottom of the box, preferably smell-free paper towels, and then spray them with water because snails need a humid environment, otherwise they will dry out and die.

Step 3: Generally speaking, snails should be fed three times a day. Before feeding, check whether the paper towel is clean (whether the snail has defecated). If it is dirty, replace it with a new moist paper towel before feeding the snail.

Step 4: In addition, snails do not like sunlight and must not be kept in the sun. The room temperature between 25 and 30 degrees is the most suitable environmental temperature for snails.

Step 5: You can feed the snails some vegetable leaves and fruit slices, because snails are omnivores and like to eat these things. However, they cannot contain salt, because snails are afraid of salt.

Step 6: You can also put some grass or branches in the snail box. This will create a better living environment for the snail and allow the snail to crawl around so it isn't too monotonous.

2. Methods and management of Oriental snail farming?

1. Environment: Snails like to live in a dark, humid, loose and humus-rich environment. Therefore, they should be raised in a humid and cool environment. They can be raised in boxes or pots. Cover the boxes or pots with moist sand, and then put food and snails in them.

2. Food: Snails have a wide range of diets. They can be fed tender vegetable leaves, weeds, melon and fruit peels, crop stems and leaves, various green grasses and barley feeds, etc. They should be fed three times a day. Note that snails will die if they come into contact with salt, so do not feed them food containing salt.

3. Temperature: The suitable growth temperature for snails is 25-30℃. When the temperature is below 15℃, snails will hibernate. If the temperature is too high, snails will lose a lot of water and die.

2. Should I raise snails in soil or sand?

1. It is better to use soil to raise snails, because the soil contains the fungal substances they need, and snails usually dig holes in the soil.

2. Mix garden soil, sandy soil, yellow sand, cinder ash and stone powder in the ratio of 3:2:1:5:0.5 to make breeding soil. Then expose it to the sun for a few days for disinfection. Finally, add appropriate amount of water to make the soil moisture reach 40%. Note that the breeding soil needs to be replaced every 1-2 months.

3. Snail's living habits

1. Snails like to live in a dark, humid, loose and humus-rich environment. They are afraid of direct sunlight and are sensitive to the environment. They usually hide in holes during the day and come out to find food at night.

2. Snails like to burrow into loose humus soil to live, lay eggs, regulate body humidity and absorb some nutrients. They grow well in an environment of 23-30℃ and will hibernate when the temperature is below 15℃.

3. Snails have strong survival abilities and strong tolerance to cold, heat, hunger and drought. Snails have a wide range of diets, including all kinds of vegetables, weeds, melon and fruit peels, crop stems and leaves, flowers, juicy fruits, etc.

3. Instructions for raising snails?

Snails need to be raised in a dark and humid place. You can prepare a container first, put sand in the container, cover it with paper towels, spray water on it to keep the humidity, then put the snails in, move the container to a dark and cool place, and feed the snails regularly. You can put washed vegetable leaves, fruits, feed, etc. You also need to add calcium supplements such as bone meal and feed them regularly.

4. What do pet snails eat? How to keep them?

It is better to use a larger box, because a 6-8 cm thick breeding soil needs to be placed in the box as a habitat for snails. The breeding soil can be made of garden soil, sand, yellow sand, cinder ash, and stone powder. Mix them in a ratio of 3:3:2:1:5:0.5, expose them to the sun for several days for disinfection, then add water and the humidity reaches 40%. However, it needs to be replaced once after 1-2 months of breeding. It is advisable to start breeding from young snails. For 1-month-old young snails, fresh cucumbers, apples, tender cabbage, and green leaves can be fed once a day. The temperature should be controlled at 25-30 degrees, and the feeding amount is about 1/10 of the snail's body weight. In winter, the temperature drops, the breeding soil should be appropriately thickened, and a thicker layer of fallen leaves and cotton wool should be placed in the box for insulation. When the temperature drops to about 10 degrees, air conditioning or light bulbs should be used to keep warm around the box, but the light bulbs should be wrapped with black cloth to prevent strong light exposure. If you use a coal stove indoors, you need to move the breeding box to another place. Do not allow carbon monoxide to fumigate, otherwise the snails will be poisoned. Keep the box clean and hygienic. Remove any remaining food, feces and other dirt every day, and wash the food bowl. The top of the box should be covered with a wire mesh lid to provide adequate ventilation. It should also be protected from natural enemies such as rats and mosquitoes, especially its biggest natural enemy, mites. The breeding environment should be disinfected with diluted peracetic acid every week. Snails need moisture the most and are most afraid of dryness. If the box is relatively dry, it is important to spray water inside the box.
