Introduction of Yellowfin Pomfret

Yellowfin pomfret, also known as silver big-eyed pomfret and silver single-finger pomfret , is distributed in Southeast Asia and the coastal areas of Guangzhou in China. It is considered a native fish of Chinese seawater and can live in pure freshwater, brackish water and seawater. However, the pH value of pure freshwater must be neutral or weakly alkaline. If the water becomes acidic, it will cause the death of yellowfin pomfret. Young yellowfin pomfret is mild in temperament and can be mixed with small tropical fish.

Yellowfin pomfret is native to the coastal areas of Southeast Asia and South Africa. It is 10-23 cm long, diamond-shaped, flattened laterally, with dorsal and anal fins of similar shape and size, and the front end of the anal fin is bent back like a finger. The body color is silvery white, the dorsal fin and tail are golden yellow, and there are two black horizontal stripes on the head that run through the eye and the rear edge of the gill cover.

The breeding technology of yellowfin pomfret

1. Feeding: They are a typical carnivorous fish, preferring animal feed and live bait. Both bloodworms and earthworms can be used for feeding. If artificial feed is used for feeding, it should be noted that the feed particles should not be too hard, otherwise it will affect their digestion.

2. Water quality: This type of fish has high requirements for water quality. They can only live normally in weakly alkaline or neutral water. The pH of the water is generally 7.5-8.0. Acidic water will threaten the life of yellowfin pomfret, so it is necessary to change the water regularly. During the water change period, the water quality should also be avoided from becoming acidic.

3. Environment: They are lively and active, so it is more suitable to raise them in a medium-sized or large fish tank. You can place water plants or driftwood at the bottom of the bathtub to create a good living environment for them. If mixed breeding is required, it is recommended to raise them with fish of similar size to reduce fighting.
