CATDOLL: What is the reason why jellyfish cannot be kept alive?

1. What is the reason why jellyfish cannot be kept alive?

First, the water temperature is not suitable. The ambient temperature for jellyfish is 22-25 degrees. If the temperature is too low, the activity of jellyfish will decrease. If the temperature is too high, the dissolved oxygen in the water will be reduced, which can easily cause the death of jellyfish.

Second, the plankton content in the water is too low, resulting in the jellyfish lacking energy sources, and their activity ability naturally decreases.

Third, if the water is not changed for a long time, the metabolic products of the jellyfish will affect the water quality. Failure to change the water for a long time will easily cause the death of the jellyfish. It is recommended to change the water once a week, changing 1/3 of the water each time.

2. Why is the jellyfish I bought not moving?

1. The temperature of new water changes too much.

2. The salinity of the new water changes too much (jellyfish are basically excluded).

3. The pH value of the new water changes too much.

4. It just happened to be resting or dead, which has nothing to do with changing the water directly.

Another thing is: 98% of jellyfish are water, and they are amorphous. They can only maintain their shape when alive, so once they die, their adhesive film will quickly become a mess and lose its strength. It's like it disappears or decomposes. The jellyfish you brought home must be dead. It is very difficult to artificially prepare seawater, and jellyfish cannot survive in fresh water.

3. Is the jellyfish I bought easy to keep?

Not easy to raise!

Jellyfish cannot be kept alive under normal conditions. They need a large space and fresh seawater, so water supply is a problem. Don't think that adding some salt to tap water can replace seawater, as that will only make them die faster. In addition, jellyfish feed on mayflies filtered from the sea, so the food source of jellyfish is also a problem.
Small jellyfish can only survive at a temperature of around 25°C. The water temperature may not be suitable for its living environment. Another possibility is that jellyfish only eat microorganisms! This is very important. When artificial conditions for their survival cannot be fully met, they will naturally die.
