Crayfish don't eat lotus root 1. Crayfish eat plankton, aquatic plants and insects in their natural environment. The newly hatched crayfish use their own retained yolk for nutrition, and soon afterward begin to feed on small zooplankton such as rotifers. As they grow larger, they feed on larger zooplankton, benthic animals, and plant debris. Adult shrimps feed on both plants and animals, mainly plant debris and animal carcasses, as well as earthworms, chironomid larvae, small crustaceans, and some aquatic insects. 2. Artificially raised crayfish eat animal and plant feed. In the juvenile and young stages, crayfish feed on rotifers, cladocerans, copepods, and aquatic insect larvae, while in the adult stage, they eat both animal and plant feeds. In the rapid growth stage of crayfish from August to October, they are fed more bran, bean cakes, and green feeds, and some animal feeds. In November and December, before the crayfish hibernates, they are mainly fed with animal feeds. Lobsters and lotus roots can be raised together. Raising lobsters in lotus fields is an ecological farming model in which planting and breeding industries utilize and complement each other. The natural environment of the lotus pond can provide a good habitat for the growth of crayfish, and the lobster excrement adds organic fertilizer to the lotus pond, achieving a virtuous cycle. |
