CATDOLL: The difference between stingrays and rays

1. The difference between manta rays and stingrays

Stingray: The body is flat and diamond-shaped or flat and disc-shaped. The front of the pectoral fin is not differentiated into a snout fin or a head fin. The dorsal fin is single or missing. The tail is slender and whip-like, and there are often serrated long spines on the tail. The tail spines, the outer membrane and the poison glands in the membrane constitute the poison weapon, which can sting people. The tail is slender and whip-like, and there are often one to three tail spines, which are poisonous. The dorsal fin is often missing.

Manta ray: The body is flat and wide, with two small dorsal fins located at the back of the tail, a small caudal fin with the lower lobe degenerated, and the front part of the pelvic fin is specialized into a toe-like structure.

However, rays are usually considered to be one large group (the order Rays), which includes stingrays.

2. What fish look good together with parrot fish?

Parrot fish can be raised together with arowana, map fish, arowana, etc.

1. If it is arowana, it is recommended to raise parrot fish and arowana together from an early age, because the two types of fish are similar in size, but both have a sense of territory. If they are not raised together from an early age, it is easy for them to fight with each other.

2. Raising the Atlas Fish and Parrot Fish together is the best combination, because basically these two kinds of fish will not fight with each other, and the Atlas Fish is gentle and not picky about food, the two complement each other when put together!

3. Silver Arowana is the most gentle among all Arowana in terms of personality, so if parrot fish and silver Arowana are raised together, fighting will not occur. Moreover, parrot fish are bottom fish, while silver Arowana likes to live in the middle layer of water. There will be no conflict between the two, and the color combination is more natural!

Breeding techniques

Parrot fish like soft water with weak acidity and low hardness. Since parrot fish are born with lips that cannot be closed, their ability to control the flow of water is poor, and the water flow passing through their gills is small. Their ability to exchange oxygen between water flow and gills is much worse than that of their father, mother and other fish.

During the breeding process, it is best to keep the water temperature within the range of 25℃~28℃, and the temperature difference before and after each water change should not exceed 0.5℃. Blood parrots have a miscellaneous diet, and they eat almost everything, such as artificial bait, flakes, pellets, bloodworms, brine shrimp, water lice, etc., and they are quite greedy;

Therefore, it is easy to keep a blood parrot alive, but it is not easy to raise a blood parrot with a strong physique and bright color. You need to feed it regularly and quantitatively every day, and reasonably match the nutrition of the feed.

3. What kind of fish are good to keep together with parrot fish?

Map, dragon, but it should be noted that the dragon must be larger than the parrot (if added later), and the same applies to the map. I had 12 parrots in my tank at the beginning, and bought 5 maps (all slightly larger than parrot fish), and then two were killed by parrots, leaving three. I just bought a silver dragon (a small silver dragon) two days ago, unfortunately, it was killed by the parrot that night, so you should pay attention to the size, or raise them together from a young age, it will be better.
