1. What to do if the fish is sick

Use 2% salt water to soak the sick fish for 10 minutes, once a week, soak 3-4 times in a row, and then continue to rest. The fish will soon get better or be cured. Keep the water in the tank clean and strictly control the temperature difference when changing the water (no more than 2 degrees).

Salt water can cure most diseases.

3. What to do if the fish is sick

① Separate sick fish in time. To prevent infection, isolate sick fish immediately. Stop feeding or reduce feeding as appropriate. Observe feeding and activity in detail. Treat symptomatically after diagnosis. For home-raised ornamental fish, if they are not rare species, and there are few sick fish and the disease is serious, it is also a good idea to dispose of the sick fish. First, the cost of treatment may be more expensive than the fish itself. Second, if the treatment is not thorough, it may infect other fish in the future.

② Careful treatment. Different treatment methods should be adopted according to different conditions, or several methods should be used in combination:

a. Apply medicine to the whole box: This is the most commonly used method. Apply medicine in the original breeding water, and the concentration of the medicine should be low so that the fish can tolerate it for a long time. Pay attention to observation, and take measures immediately to reduce the concentration of the medicine if any adverse reactions are found to avoid annihilation of the whole army.

b. Medicinal bath: The sick fish is immersed in the medicinal solution for a certain period of time, then taken out and put back into the water. More attention should be paid to observation. If any adverse reaction is found, treatment should be stopped.

c. Oral medicated bait: Mix the medicine in the bait and feed it to the fish. Make sure to prepare it before use to avoid it becoming ineffective. Some commercial baits are marked with antibiotics, but they are far from enough to treat diseases.

d. Injection: For large fish, drugs can be injected intramuscularly or intraperitoneally.

e. Local treatment: For local diseases, local treatment methods can be adopted, such as removing parasites, applying medicine to the affected area, etc.

f. Change the physical and chemical properties of water: Change the water temperature or pH to prevent pathogens from surviving and eliminate the disease. For example, for Ichthyophthirius punctatus, gradually raise the water temperature to 30°C to prevent Ichthyophthirius punctatus from growing and reproducing normally, and then change the water to eliminate the disease.

③Disinfect utensils that have come into contact with sick fish to prevent secondary infection.
