CATDOLL : Can cats eat pomegranates?

Can cats eat pomegranates?

Cats cannot eat pomegranates, unless the owner removes all the pomegranate seeds for the cat, otherwise it will cause diarrhea, abdominal pain, and even gastroenteritis. Cats do not spit out the pomegranate seeds like we humans do when eating pomegranates. Pomegranate seeds contain toxic cyanide. When cats chew them, the toxic substances will dissolve in the gastric juice, causing diarrhea, abdominal pain, gastroenteritis, and even death in severe cases.

Other foods that cats cannot eat:

1. Milk. Many cats are lactose intolerant. Drinking milk can easily cause vomiting and diarrhea. Goat milk powder can also supplement nutrition. Additive-free yogurt can also be given to cats, which can also promote gastrointestinal digestion.

2. Alcoholic beverages: If a cat consumes too much ethanol, it will damage its brain cells and body cells, causing vomiting, diarrhea, breathing difficulties, and nervous system abnormalities.

3. Coffee and chocolate. Theobromine and caffeine can be poisonous to cats.

4. Grapes can easily cause acute renal failure in cats, so it is best not to try it lightly.

5. Avocados contain a chemical toxin called "Persin", which is very harmful to cats. It can cause digestive problems, breathing difficulties, high fever, and large amounts of it can be fatal. However, cat food with avocado ingredients on the market is edible, and these cat foods often have harmful substances removed.

6. Persimmons can cause intestinal obstruction or enteritis in cats.

7. Peaches, plums, cherries, apricots, etc. The seeds of these fruits contain cyanide, which can cause vomiting, breathing difficulties, and even intestinal obstruction in cats.
