CATDOLL : What does it mean when a male cat licks a female cat?

Display of status and intimacy: In cat society, cats with higher status usually lick other cats. Therefore, a male cat licking a female cat may be showing his dominance or intimacy and friendliness towards the female cat.

Scent marking: Cats lick each other to retain each other's scent, so as to identify and confirm their relationship. Male cats may lick female cats for this purpose, marking the female cat as their partner or mate.

Courtship and mating: During estrus, female cats secrete special hormones and produce vaginal discharge that attract the interest of male cats. Male cats may further arouse female cats by licking their genital area. Although licking a female cat's anus (i.e., anal area) is not a typical mating behavior, male cats licking various parts of a female cat's body may contain courtship intentions.
