CATDOLL: How to keep alligator snapping turtles

1. Water depth: Alligator snapping turtles live in water, and the water depth is generally slightly higher than the turtle's back, not too deep, but no more than twice the height of the turtle's back. It is best to provide a stone above the water surface for the turtle to climb up and bask in the sun.

2. Light: Alligator snapping turtles need sunlight. If you keep them indoors, you should give them more than ten minutes of sunlight every day. It is recommended to keep them in a southeast location where they can get about 1-2 hours of sunlight and provide shade to avoid heat stroke.

3. Tank bottom: Alligator turtles can use some small stones or large pebbles, but if they are laid out, it will be very troublesome when changing the water. It is recommended for beginners to use a bare tank, that is, do not lay anything and do not put aquatic plants in the water.

4. Water quality: Alligator snapping turtles have a lot of food intake and excrement. Even if they are fed green feed, they will quickly pollute the water and more harmful substances will be easily produced in the water. Spraying photosynthetic bacteria at the bottom can effectively improve water quality and reduce harmful substances.

5. Change water: The water depth of the alligator turtle breeding pond can be changed once a day, 20 cm, and once every 2 days, 30 cm. Do not leave the water unchanged for many days, and do not allow the water to emit a foul odor. Sprinkle quicklime every 7-10 days, and pay attention to cross-application with photosynthetic bacteria.
