How to breed hairy crabs?

The hairy crab is a high-grade, high-nutrition, high-economic-value aquatic product. September every year is the season when the hairy crab is mature and plump. The female crab is plump, the crab roe is plump, the meat is tender and delicious, and you will never get tired of eating it! How can you raise a big and plump hairy crab? This still requires certain technical requirements, and you should focus on the following points: hairy crab farming 1. The choice of breeding site. The site is best to choose a pond with a quiet environment and a source of running water. It is best to choose a natural lake wetland with no environmental pollution, lush aquatic plants, rich fish and shrimps, and this breeding environment is the best. The water surface is more than five mu, and the water depth is about 1.5 meters deep in the middle of the pond, and the surrounding shallowness is 1 to 1.2 meters. The shore is 20 to 30 centimeters. 2. Plant good aquatic plants. The aquatic plants are mainly lantern ball grass, mandarin fish grass, and water black grass floating aquatic plants. The role of water plants is to facilitate the hiding of crabs that have shed their shells. The friction of water plants helps shed their shells, and prevents other crabs and birds from eating soft crabs that have just shed their shells and have no mobility. 3. The pond is surrounded by a fence. The fence is 1.8 meters high and forms a "7" shape in the pond to prevent crabs from escaping. 4. The release of crab seeds. Buy crab seeds as big as buttons and release 600 per mu at the beginning. Big and plump hairy crabs 5. A few days before the first molting of the crab and after the molting, it is necessary to release 100 catties of screws per mu. After that, screws are released before and after the crab molts for the crabs to eat. As the crabs grow, the amount of screws released should be increased accordingly. This is an important measure for the crabs to grow quickly and have uniform specifications. Other foods are released according to conventional breeding. 6. Two or three days before the crab molts, ten catties of tea dregs are used per mu of water surface to be evenly spread throughout the pond until the tea dregs are stopped after the molting. The reason for doing this is to speed up the molting speed of the crabs and molt smoothly, so that the crabs will not die during the molting. Every molting of crabs is quite difficult and many crabs die during the molting process. The part of the crab shed during the molting increases in size rapidly, so if the molting is not timely, the crab will suffocate and die. Special attention should be paid to these details during the crab breeding process. If the details are well done, high-yield and large crabs can be achieved. The high-yield technology of crabs requires us to continuously observe, summarize and research to achieve it, and we must not stand still.

Many people know that raising hairy crabs is not an easy task. However, in addition to conventional pond farming of hairy crabs, there are actually many other ways to raise hairy crabs. If the management is in place, the economic benefits generated are also very good. The following editor will introduce several ways to raise hairy crabs for your reference.

1. Raising crabs on reed flats

(1) The area for breeding hairy crabs: Generally, 50-100 mu is appropriate. The larger the area, the better the specifications and quality of the commercial crabs, and the lower the cost. On the contrary, the smaller the area, the worse the specifications and quality of the crabs, and the higher the cost. However, the area should not be too large.

(2) Stocking density of hairy crabs: The pond must be cleaned and pests removed before stocking. The stocking specification requires an average of 2,500 to 3,200 crabs per mu. At the same time, depending on the water conditions, some grass carp, silver carp, bighead carp, etc. can be stocked, with an average of about 200 crabs per mu.

(3) Feeding: Mainly natural animal bait and plant bait, supplemented by artificial feeding, once a day. In the early stage, natural bait and small fish are mainly used, and in the later stage, concentrated feed is mainly used.

(4) Escape prevention: To prevent river crabs from escaping, the calcium plastic board can be fixed on the embankment with bamboo stakes. The calcium plastic board should be 90 cm high and buried 25 cm in the soil, and then partially embedded with soil.

(5) Fishing: Catch fish by draining the pond or by using light at night.

2. Cage-grown crabs

(1) Cage structure: The mesh is woven with polyethylene or galvanized iron wire, with a mesh size of 10*10mm. Wood is then used as a support to fully enclose the mesh and fix it on the support. A feeding platform is left at the mouth of the mesh. The size of the cage depends on the amount of crabs to be raised.

(2) Selection of the location for the cage: Choose a location with clear water, free from pesticide and fertilizer pollution, rich in aquatic plants and zooplankton, and relatively gentle water flow. The water depth should also be appropriate so that the crabs can have a place to hide from wind and waves.

(3) Stocking density: 20-30 one-year-old crabs per square meter.

(4) Management: Same as conventional breeding methods.

3. Enclose river crabs in large waters (this method can be used in lakes, harbors and other open waters)

(1) Enclosure area: usually 0.2-3 mu.

(2) Crab stocking: The time is from March to April, the size is about 60 per kilogram and the stocking density is about 30 per square meter.

(3) Feeding: Natural bait is the main feed, snails, low-value shellfish, earthworms, etc. are fed once every 10-15 days. Wheat cakes, vegetable cakes, corn cakes and other commercial baits are fed every 2-3 days.

(4) Daily management: During the breeding process, the climbing and feeding conditions of river crabs in the enclosure should be observed regularly. Any holes found should be repaired promptly. After strong winds and waves, the wooden stakes should be checked promptly and any loose parts should be reinforced in time.

1. Put the hairy crabs in water

The crab body cannot be completely covered. The water needs to be changed frequently, and some feed is needed for a long time, otherwise the hairy crab will become thin.

2. Refrigerate

Put the hairy crab (untied) in the refrigerator's fresh-keeping layer, then take a clean towel, half-wrung it and spread it flat on the hairy crab. The hairy crab will faint in a low-temperature environment, so it can be stored for a few days, but the longer it is stored, the worse the taste will be.

How to raise hairy crabs

Chinese hairy crab is a kind of river crab, and its scientific name is Chinese mitten crab. It is widely distributed along the long coastline of my country from Liaohe River in the north to the Pearl River in the south. Among them, the hairy crabs produced in Taihu Lake, Gaoyou Lake and Yangcheng Lake in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River are the best quality. The Yangtze River system has the largest output and the most delicious taste.

Breeding hairy crabs requires certain technical skills.

In simple terms, to breed hairy crabs, you need to select some high-quality crab seedlings with a high survival rate for breeding. It is recommended to use lake water for breeding, choose an area with high water quality as the breeding area, and set up fences and sluices. After that, plant some aquatic plants in the water to improve the water quality, and put the crab seedlings in it. When breeding, you should regularly feed them with live small fish, so that the hairy crabs can get sufficient nutrients and grow better.

1

How to raise hairy crabs

The hairy crab is a lake crab and can be farmed in freshwater. Just find a water area connected to the lake, turn it into a pond, take drainage and anti-climbing measures, then select vigorous and high-quality hairy crabs and put them in the pond. After that, feed them some small fish, shrimps and other food, and properly cultivate some aquatic plants to ensure the survival of the hairy crabs.

2

How to keep hairy crabs alive at home for a few days

Generally, the hairy crabs you buy will be eaten as soon as possible within a short period of time. You do not need to keep them according to the above method. You can take the following measures to keep them temporarily:

1. Refrigerator: 3 days

(1) Select hairy crabs that are full of vitality and gently touch their eyes. If they do not react quickly, eat them immediately and do not store them, otherwise they will die easily.

(2) Tie up the crab’s legs and claws with cotton rope or palm leaves to reduce the crab’s physical exertion.

(3) Then place it in the refrigerator and control the temperature at around 5-10 degrees Celsius.

(4) Cover the crab with a wrung-out wet towel to keep the crab moist.

(5) Observe the crabs every day. Pick out and eat the crabs that are not vigorous enough. The crabs that are vigorous enough can be kept.

2. Temporary storage in plastic buckets/pots: 3-5 days

(1) As with the first step of the refrigeration method, you should first select hairy crabs with good vitality for storage.

(2) Place the hairy crabs into the plastic bucket/basin one by one, without stacking them.

(3) Then add water to half the height of the crab's body to keep it moist. However, the water should not completely cover the crab, otherwise it will die from lack of oxygen.

(4) The bucket/basin does not need to be covered and can be placed in a cool place. Check the hairy crabs every day and eat those that are not energetic enough as soon as possible. Usually, when the temperature is not high, hairy crabs can be preserved for more than 5 days.

3. Temporary maintenance in the bathtub: more than 7 days or more

(1) Similarly, pick out the hairy crabs with good vitality and keep them first.

(2) Gently pour the hairy crabs into the bathtub.

(3) Pour water until the crab can stand up on its eight legs and breathe on the water surface.

(4) Add a small amount of small fish and shrimp according to the storage time and quantity. This method can generally store hairy crabs for more than 7 days or longer. The survival rate of good quality hairy crabs can reach more than 95%.

3

What kind of water should be used to raise hairy crabs?

Lake or river water.

Hairy crabs are not seafood, but a type of lake crab. They only need to be raised in fresh water. Usually, the water in the waters connected to rivers and lakes is fresh water. You can get some to temporarily raise hairy crabs, but don't add salt to it like you do when raising sea crabs. If the salt concentration is too high, it will accelerate the death of hairy crabs. At the same time, do not use tap water, because it contains harmful substances such as chlorine, which can also cause the hairy crabs to die quickly.

4

Water temperature for temporary rearing of hairy crabs

It should not be lower than 5 degrees Celsius at room temperature.

Hairy crabs will hibernate at a temperature of 5 degrees Celsius. If the temperature is lower, the hairy crabs will be at risk of frostbite. Therefore, in order to ensure the freshness of the hairy crabs during temporary storage, the temperature should be adjusted above 5 degrees Celsius, and the optimal temperature is around 15 degrees Celsius.
