CATDOLL: What to do if a small alligator snapping turtle eats

1 Generally speaking, snapping turtles are cold-resistant turtles and can eat when the average temperature is above 18 degrees. If the temperature does not reach this level, then wait.

2 Adapt to the environment. Some turtles are afraid to eat in a new environment, but they will start eating in about 1-7 days.

3. The feeding is wrong. Alligator snapping turtles mainly eat small fish, shrimps and other meaty foods.

4. Gastrointestinal problems are usually caused by poor water quality or large temperature changes. This may have been sick when you bought it. Or you put it in an air-conditioned room or it caught a cold on the way to buy it. In this case, put 1 tablet of antibiotics such as oxytetracycline in the water, but don't use too much.

I can’t think of anything else, but the alligator snapping turtle (the scientific name for the small alligator snapping turtle) is very easy to raise. Its characteristics are that it is not easy to die and grows fast. It is recommended to feed it mainly with small fish.

Finally, whether you know it or not, I have two nonsense words to say. First, do not use tap water to feed turtles, because the chlorine gas can easily make turtles sick. Use cold boiled water. Second, do not let turtles fluctuate between hot and cold in a short period of time (especially before and after eating), so do not put them in air-conditioned rooms. One of my turtles died of enteritis when eating under the air conditioner. Of course, the food in the refrigerator must be thawed before feeding it, otherwise it will also get enteritis!

Also, if the temperature is low now, the turtle can still eat food, but if the turtle eats it, it is easy to get enteritis or indigestion. It is best to wait until the highest temperature is above 22 degrees at noon and the lowest temperature is above 17 degrees at night to feed it.

(Alligator) This turtle is strong, with a protruding carapace on its back and well-developed limbs, but it is not good at swimming, so when raising it, you should pay attention to not keeping the water too deep. This turtle is timid and likes quietness, but it is quite aggressive, so novices should be careful! ! ! (As long as you don't put your hand in its mouth) You should hold the sides of the turtle or the tail of the turtle. The alligator turtle has strong disease resistance and is not easy to get sick. It also has a large appetite and grows very fast, but the most worth watching is its predation scene. It hunts food by trapping. It will open its two mouths, and there is a red bait in its mouth that looks like a red nematode, which twists to attract small fish and captures food. The scene is very exciting! ! ! The alligator turtle also looks very cool, is easy to raise, and has a strong body. It can be said that it is very suitable for novices to raise! ! ! The feed is mainly live fish, loach, meat, but after training, it can also take food from the breeder. Don't change the water too often. It's better to have a filter to keep the water clean. Especially for newly purchased turtles, frequent moving and changing water will make them very nervous! ! ! In winter, it is better to choose stainless steel adjustable temperature heating tubes at about 25 degrees! !

(Small Alligator) This turtle is similar to the big alligator, but the biggest difference is that it actively attacks food, is active and bold, the protrusions on the shell are not very obvious, and it is good at climbing. Be careful when raising it to prevent it from escaping from the breeding box! ! ! It mainly feeds on meat, fish, and small rodents. The heating temperature in winter is around 25 degrees! !

Ask the boss what he usually feeds, such as what kind of fish, and feed the same fish. You can also try feeding other foods, such as shrimps, crabs, etc.

If they are sick and don't eat food, I will copy your answer on the prevention and treatment of common diseases of red-eared sliders. This is common for aquatic turtles, which means it is also the prevention and treatment of common diseases of alligator snapping turtles.

White eye disease

Cause: Due to the increase in stocking density, the water quality is too alkaline. This disease is more common in red-eared turtles and tortoises, and the incidence rate is higher in young turtles. The seasons of onset are spring, autumn and spring after wintering.

Symptoms: The eyes of sick turtles become inflamed and congested, and the eyes are swollen. The cornea and nasal mucosa are eroded due to eye inflammation, the outside of the eyeball is covered with white secretions, and the eyes cannot be opened. Sick turtles often rub their eyes with their forelimbs, move slowly, and in severe cases stop eating. Finally, they die of exhaustion due to weakness and other complications.

Prevention and treatment methods - For turtles with mild symptoms (eyes can still be opened), you can soak them in furazolidone or furanone solution with a concentration of 30 mg/L. Soak for 40 minutes. Soak for 5 consecutive days. For turtles with severe symptoms (eyes cannot be opened), first clean the white matter and white necrotic epidermis in the eyes. If bleeding, continue to clean, and then soak the turtle in a solution containing vitamin B and oxytetracycline. Put 0.5 tablets of oxytetracycline and 2 tablets of vitamin B in every 500 grams of water. If treating green-haired turtles, apply 1% furanone solution to the eyes. Do not use the method of soaking the whole body.

Skin rot

Cause: It is caused by various bacteria, turtles bite each other, and bacteria invade. Poor water quality can also cause this disease.

Symptoms: White spots can be seen on the turtle's head, neck, limbs or tail, mostly on the limbs.

Prevention and control methods: Regularly disinfect the turtle container with 80% salt water. Apply chlortetracycline to the affected area of the sick turtle every day, or soak it in oxytetracycline solution for 40 minutes. In addition, sick turtles should be kept in water, as soaking them in water will aggravate the disease.

pneumonia

Cause: It is mainly caused by a sudden rise or fall in temperature. A tortoise I raised died because of the air conditioner. So don't put the tortoise in the air-conditioned room.

Symptoms: The nose of the sick turtle will have mucus, which will become thick and even blocked in the later stage. The turtle will breathe through its mouth. In addition, turtles with colds will also have this symptom, but turtles with colds can generally still eat, while turtles with pneumonia will mostly stop eating.

Prevention and treatment methods: Prevent the temperature difference from being too large. For sick turtles, dissolve one vitamin B tablet and one Pioneer 4 tablet in the water until the turtles recover. If the disease is serious, it is difficult to save the turtles.

Gastroenteritis

Cause: Eating stale food, or the temperature changing by more than 5 degrees before and after the turtle eats, or eating in dirty water can also cause the turtle to get sick.

Symptoms: The turtle is listless, moves less, eats less or does not eat. The feces are loose and have no shape, and are yellow or green (although some foods can also have these colors, such as green turtle food). Blood can be seen in the feces when wiped on paper.

Prevention and treatment methods: Use the genuine Qingchan turtle water on the market for treatment (but there are too many fakes). I used this to cure a small turtle. I heard that oxytetracycline solution can also cure it (that is, dissolve oxytetracycline tablets in the water where the turtle is kept).

I used to keep one, but later on I got too annoyed with it, so I just kept it at home. It would take several days for me to see it come out for a while, and I had no idea what it ate!

Sometimes I keep them in a fish tank. I buy some small fish at the flower and bird market. If you don’t feed them, they will eat them. If there are alive ones, they will not eat dead ones. If there are no alive ones, they will only look for dead meat to eat if they are really hungry!

People usually say that he likes to eat pig liver, which is very fishy. If you are really hungry, you will eat it. It is not as good as live fish.

Don't copy the post above, the pet introduction is not helpful

Feeding some bloody offal or meat will stimulate appetite. Also, be careful not to let the temperature change before and after feeding be too big, as this will cause indigestion.

Soak it in salt water

Get more sun

Because your turtle is not big.

So it is recommended to feed egg yolk
