CATDOLL: How to raise turkey ducks?

1. How to raise fire ducks?

1. The living habits of fire duck

(1) Sociality: Fire ducks are highly social, docile, not afraid of people, can tolerate rough feed, and are good at foraging. They can be raised in small groups or in large groups.

(2) Cold resistance: Fire ducks are highly adaptable to climate and environmental conditions and are both cold-resistant and heat-resistant. As long as the breeding conditions are good, the lower temperatures in winter and spring will not affect their egg production and weight gain.

(3) Omnivorous: The sense of smell and taste of turkey ducks are not well developed, and they do not require much fragrance in feed. They eat a lot at one time and have a wide range of diets.

(4) Production performance: Under current farm breeding conditions, the average birth weight of a turkey duck is 40 grams. The weight of a male turkey duck at 11 weeks of age is 3,500 grams, and the largest can reach about 5,000 grams. The weight of an adult female turkey duck is 2,500 grams.

Meat to feed ratio 1:2.8-3.4. The half-eviscerated slaughter rate of adult male turkey ducks is 74%, and that of female turkey ducks is 75%, with an average liver weight of more than 360 grams. Eggs can be laid after 6 months of breeding, and 250-280 eggs can be laid annually, with an average egg weight of 70 grams and the largest egg weighing 100 grams.

2. Selection of breeding site

1. The site should be secluded. 2. The site should be sheltered from the wind and facing the sun, facing north and south, with a higher terrain. The slope of the playground should be 1~30 degrees, and the soil should be sandy. 3. You can also use spare rooms and spaces for cage breeding.

3. Feeding and management of fire duck

1. Raising fire ducklings (1-30 days old) Temperature control: 30-31℃ for 1-3 days old, 25~26'E for 4-10 days old, 21~24'E for 11-20 days old. Raising fire ducklings on flat ground, soft straw should be spread on the ground and separated into small pens. There are 50-70 fire ducklings in each small pen within 7 days of age. Because fire ducklings have the nature of sleeping in piles, someone should be on duty day and night, and gently stir the piles by hand every hour to prevent crushing and suffocation. Adjust the density after 1 week. Start eating, first drink water and then feed, add appropriate amount of complex vitamin B agent to the drinking water, and have sufficient water dispensers to prepare clean water, and never cut off water. Feeding frequency is 7 times a day within 10 days of age, 4-5 times a day after 10 days of age, and carry out vaccination.

2. Breeding of turkey ducks (31-70 days old) After one month of age, the stocking density of turkey ducks is preferably 10-15 per square meter. After one month of age, the growth rate of turkey ducks accelerates, especially at 2-3 months of age, when the growth rate is the fastest. This is also the period when turkey ducks eat the most, and they need to be supplied with complete feed. During this period, there are two peaks of feather pecking, one is when the tail feathers grow at one month of age, and the other is when the wing feathers grow after two months of age. In order to reduce feather pecking, attention should be paid to increasing sulfur-containing amino acids and additives for treating feather pecking, such as feather powder, stop pecking, etc.
