CATDOLL: How to deal with diarrhea in weaned piglets

Diarrhea in weaned piglets is a common problem, but there is a solution

The weaning process is a critical period for piglets to switch from breast milk to solid feed. At this stage, the intestinal function of piglets is not fully developed, so diarrhea is a common problem. Diarrhea may cause dehydration, worsening of the condition, and even affect growth and development. Therefore, even if faced with the problem of diarrhea in weaned piglets, farmers do not need to worry too much, because there are some simple and effective methods to help solve this problem.

1. Check the feed

Diarrhea in weaned piglets may be caused by inappropriate feed. Farmers should check whether the feed used meets the standards and ensure its freshness. If there is a problem with the feed quality, it should be replaced with high-quality feed immediately.

2. Control the amount of feed

The intestinal function of weaned piglets is not fully developed, so too much feed may cause indigestion and diarrhea. Farmers should reasonably control the amount of feed according to the age and weight of the piglets to avoid giving them too much stress.

3. Add probiotics

Probiotics are very helpful in helping the piglet's digestive system return to normal. Farmers can add probiotics to the piglet's feed to reduce the occurrence of diarrhea to a certain extent. However, before adding probiotics, it is recommended to consult a veterinarian.

4. Provide adequate water

Proper water intake is very important for the normal functioning of the piglet's digestive system. Farmers should ensure that the piglet has enough water to drink, but not too much water to avoid increasing the burden on its intestines.

5. Closely observe and adjust

Farmers should closely monitor the condition of weaned piglets, including the degree and frequency of diarrhea. If diarrhea persists and worsens, seek veterinary help immediately. At the same time, adjust the amount of feed, water and probiotics in a timely manner according to the actual situation.
