CATDOLL: What conditions are needed for fly farming and how to choose a site

What are the basic requirements for shrimp pond site selection? (I) Climate requirements: The water temperature must exceed 20℃ for at least three months throughout the year; at the same time, the rainfall time must exceed half during this period; understand the local evaporation and the maximum evaporation season cannot be in the open-air breeding season; understand the local wind conditions (including wind direction, wind force, high wind season, typhoon, etc. throughout the year); understand the local fog season, frost period, cold current and sunshine length throughout the year. (II) Geographical requirements: understand the local tidal time and tidal range, avoid the wave-hit area when building the pond, and the shrimp pond must be above the safe height; understand the seasonal changes of freshwater sources to avoid water shortages in the dry season or floods in the rainy season; the distance from rivers, lakes and seas should not exceed 0.5 kilometers (otherwise it will be difficult to transfer and change water); the height of the pond bottom cannot be more than 3 meters lower than the water surface of the water source (otherwise it will not be drained or dried); the pond bottom and pool walls cannot leak; there should be no trees or buildings too high around the pond; avoid mining areas, papermaking, shipbreaking, pesticides, chemicals, large industrial areas, residential areas and factory-style agricultural and forestry planting areas (too heavy pollution and drug effects). (III) Water quality requirements: Before selecting a site, the local water quality must be tested and analyzed. The various hydration parameters are: water temperature 18-32℃; salinity 0-32‰; pH 7.6-8.5; ammonia nitrogen 0-0.4mg/L; nitrite 0-0.4mg/L; phosphorus (PO4-P) 0-0.04mg/L; dissolved oxygen ≥5mg/L; the concentration of pesticides and toxic metal ions should meet the national water quality standards. (IV) Geological requirements: The thickness of the stratum containing more than 25% clay is not less than 1 meter; there is no rock foundation or cementation layer (sliding layer) within 1 meter of the bottom of the pond; the groundwater level does not exceed the bottom mark of the pond; there is a certain hardness; the soil organic matter content does not exceed 5%. Avoid building a pond in a place where the silt is too deep. Acidic or potentially acidic soils are not suitable for pond construction without alkalization. (V) Species requirements: It is necessary to understand the natural biological species in the area around the pond. Especially harmful organisms, competing organisms, parasites, plankton, benthic organisms, etc. Understand the local disease situation (virus, bacteria). For example, areas with high incidence of red tide are not suitable for breeding; places with many shrimps and crabs should pay attention to preventing white spots; places with many egrets should pay attention to building bird-proof nets and preventing bacterial diseases; places with many aquatic plants should pay attention to killing weeds when building ponds. (VI) Personnel requirements: at least 4 hours of management time during the day and 1 hour of management time at night; understand the shrimp farming process or have professional technicians nearby. (VII) Equipment requirements: generator (power must be 1.3 times the total power of all equipment); water inlet filter silk mesh (40 mesh double-layer silk mesh or 60 mesh silk mesh); shrimp cage (used to catch frogs, snakes, crabs and other harmful organisms and later shrimp), scoop net (or triangular net, used to scrape bottom materials and catch shrimp), shrimp net (feeding table), boat, feed basin, large bucket (used for spraying medicine), ground scale (feeding weighing), etc. (VIII) Resource requirements: convenient transportation (preferably accessible by small trucks, convenient for stocking shrimp and collecting shrimp); convenient water access (there must be salt water and fresh water sources), and basic conditions such as water, electricity, living, and communications must also be considered; there must be pharmacies, feed stores, farmers' markets, agricultural equipment stores, and electrical repair shops (which can repair motors and install lines) nearby. When choosing a site, you must understand the local government's development plan and obtain permission from the relevant departments before breaking ground.
