1. When do grasshoppers hatch in spring? There are more than 10,000 species of grasshoppers. The overwintering eggs hatch into nymphs and emerge from the ground in April and May. They are called summer locusts. The next generation of summer locusts is called autumn locusts. Autumn locusts lay eggs again, which are overwintering eggs. 2. Can grasshopper eggs be hatched without an incubator in winter?Winters can be difficult due to the lower temperatures. 3. Can grasshoppers be eaten? Are they pests or beneficial insects?Grasshoppers, commonly known as migratory locusts, are recognized pests. However, Gao Yunlong and several other farmers in Neiqiu County, Hebei Province, have turned pests into treasures and have become rich by breeding and selling grasshoppers, with an annual income of more than 10,000 yuan, and have also encouraged surrounding farmers to engage in grasshopper breeding. The suitable temperature for grasshopper development is 25-32℃, relative humidity is 85%-92%, and soil moisture content is 15%-18%. When the temperature is lower than 14℃ or higher than 40℃, grasshoppers gradually stop eating and die. When the temperature reaches 28-30℃, grasshopper eggs begin to hatch. First, prepare non-toxic soil and sawdust powder in a ratio of 1:2, with a moisture content of 20%-30%. Spread 3-5 cm of soil in a container and pat it down, then spread the grasshopper eggs on the soil and cover it with about 1 cm thick mixed soil. Finally, cover the container with a layer of film and check it once every half a day. When the grasshopper is found, use a soft brush to brush it onto the food in the shed. The grasshopper will hatch after 10-15 days. The newly unearthed grasshoppers like to eat fresh monocotyledonous plants such as wheat seedlings, corn seedlings, and weeds, but their appetite is very small. Grasshoppers aged 1 to 3 should be protected from rain. It takes about 27 to 35 days for grasshoppers to grow from unearthed to adult. During this period, they shed their skin every 5 to 7 days, for a total of 5 times. Grasshoppers after the 5th instar gradually begin to mate and lay eggs, and each grasshopper lays about 70 to 100 eggs. In order to feed and lay eggs, grasshoppers like to live in groups and migrate. Therefore, grasshoppers should be properly disturbed from the time they emerge to before they lay eggs, so that they can migrate and increase the number and quality of eggs. Before the eggs are frozen, the egg-laying area should be covered with some wheat bran, weeds, etc. to keep them warm and moisturize to prevent them from freezing and cracking. If adult grasshoppers are not used for breeding, they should be sold in time. |
