What use are ants to humans?

As underground workers, ants silently improve the soil environment for humans

What are the advantages and disadvantages of ants?

1. Advantages

The advantages of unity are worth learning. Ants, like human society, have different social divisions in different forms. All ants live in social groups. Generally, there are four different ant types in a group.

The reproductive female, or queen ant, is the largest in the colony, especially with a large abdomen, well-developed reproductive organs, short antennae, small thoracic legs, and wings, wingless or wingless. Its main responsibilities are to lay eggs, reproduce offspring, and manage the colony. The male ant has a small round head, underdeveloped upper jaw, and long and thin antennae. It has well-developed reproductive organs and external genitalia, and its main function is to mate with the queen ant.

2. Disadvantages

Ants spread germs, pollute the environment, and damage buildings. They spread a variety of diseases and endanger human health, causing indirect losses. Ants also cause economic losses due to food damage and pollution.

Additional information:

Ants have a wide range of diets. Sometimes, in order to improve their monotonous diet, in addition to hunting, they can also raise and graze animals to improve their nutritional structure. Ants love sweets, and insects that can produce honey are often their guests, especially aphids, which are the most popular guests.

The tail of aphids can produce "honeydew". Whenever ants encounter aphids, they use their antennae to gently touch the aphids' bellies, which immediately release a drop of honeydew. The ants enjoy it to their heart's content.

In order to eat this delicacy for a long time, the ants take good care of the aphids. They move the aphids around so that they can produce more honeydew. If winter comes, the ants will transport the aphids to their nests to overwinter, and then transport them back to the trees in the spring of the following year.

This is very similar to the behavior of humans raising livestock and grazing cows. Of course, ants have more than one kind of "livestock". They also breed scale insects, wax worms and small gray butterfly larvae.
