CATDOLL: Why do many barracudas not bite the hook on the water surface?

1. Why do many barracudas not bite the hook on the water surface?

There are many reasons why fish don't bite the hook, such as stuffy weather, low air pressure, wrong fishing spot, wrong bait, wrong fishing method, wrong time, etc.

Fish jumping on the water surface may be playing, hiding from larger fish, or on their migration route.

Fishing is an outdoor sport. The goal is to catch fish from the water using fishing gear. Fishing is not limited to gender or age. Adults and children all like it. Fishing brings you close to nature and cultivates your sentiments.

Pike need to be fished on the float, otherwise they will not bite the hook. Usually you need to prepare a 4.5-6.3m table fishing rod, with a 1.2-2 main line and a 0.8-1.5 sub-line, and the fishhook can be a barbless hook from Shin Kanto or Ise Ni. If you are in a river with a high density, adjust the float to a high level and fish low, and use commercial crucian carp bait. It has a strong momentum, and it is normal for the fish to escape, so be careful when controlling the fish.

2. Why does pike taste bitter?

The fishy smell of fish comes from the "fishing line" of the fish itself. This is how I remove the fishy smell from fish:

Place the fish flat on the chopping board, make a cut at the front of the fish near the head, and make a cut at the tail of the fish near the tail. Then use the side of the kitchen knife to tap it a few times. You will find a white dot as big as a needle tip at the seam where the knife cuts the fish meat. Gently pinch it and pull it outwards, and you will pull out a white line like a hair. This is the fishing line. Use the same method to remove the other side, and then marinate it with onion, ginger and other seasonings and cooking wine for 2 hours. It not only tastes good, but also has no fishy smell. It is very delicious. Be sure to wash away the blood, as blood can easily smell fishy.

Many freshwater fish such as carp, grass carp, silver carp, etc. are rich in protein, have high nutritional value, and taste delicious, but these fish often have an earthy smell.

Here are some ways to get rid of the earthy smell:

1. After gutting and cleaning the river fish, put it in cold water and pour a small amount of vinegar and pepper into the water. This way, the river fish will no longer have an earthy smell.

2. You can use half a tael of salt and 5 jin of water. When you soak a live fish in salt water, the salt water will penetrate into the blood through the gills. After one hour, the earthy smell will disappear. If it is a dead fish, soak it in salt water for two hours to remove the earthy smell.

3. There are two white tendons on both sides of the carp's back. These are the things that produce the special fishy smell. When slaughtering the carp, be sure to remove these two white tendons. There will be no fishy smell after cooking.

4. When slaughtering fish, rinse the blood as much as possible. When cooking, add onions, ginger, garlic and other seasonings, and the earthy smell can be basically removed. 5. Remove fishy smell. If you like to eat fish but are afraid of fishy smell, you can soak the fish in warm tea. Generally, for a 500-1000 gram fish, add a cup of strong tea to make light tea, soak the fish in the light tea for 5-10 minutes, and the fishy smell will disappear.
