Gio Tilapia is the abbreviation of all-male Gio Tilapia. It is a hybrid of the male bred from the original species of Aurelia as the father and the female bred from the new Gifu Tilapia after multiple generations of purification and rejuvenation as the mother. It is the latest excellent strain that is further improved and innovated on the basis of Gifu and Lipai Aurelia tilapia. It is a new variety hybridized through high technology. Compared with the previous Gifu and Aurelia strains, this variety of tilapia has the following three advantages in breeding production performance: 1. High male rate, up to 99%; 2. What varieties of tilapia are suitable for saline-alkali land aquaculture?

There are more than 700 species of tilapia, and many species can grow in saline water within a certain salinity range after being domesticated, such as Mozambique tilapia, Spirono tilapia, Florida red tilapia, Taiwan red tilapia and Saroo tilapia. Tilapia was introduced into my country in the 1970s, and the main introduced species include Nile tilapia, Aurelia tilapia, red tilapia, Yanyu Mozambique tilapia and Saroo tilapia.

Among them, the recommended species suitable for saline-alkali land aquaculture are:

(1) "New Jifu" Nile tilapia grows fast and has a certain tolerance to salinity. It is suitable for breeding at a salinity of 0 to 12, and is not suitable for breeding at a salinity of more than 24. Water bodies with a salinity of less than 10 can be directly stocked, but water bodies with a salinity of more than 10 need to be domesticated before breeding.

(2) Taiwan red tilapia is also known as "rainbow bream". It grows fast, has bright color and strong tolerance. It is suitable for breeding in water with high salinity. After domestication, it can be cultured in saline-alkali water with a salinity of about 28 and grow to market size in the same year. However, when breeding in water with high salinity, it is also necessary to pay attention to changes in other major water quality factors.

(3) All-male tilapia (Oni) Oni is the offspring of a hybrid of a male Oreochromis aureus and a female Nile tilapia.

The male rate of Oni hybrid fish is high, the growth rate is fast, and the catch rate is high. It has a certain degree of salt and alkali tolerance and is suitable for breeding in saline and alkali water with a salinity of 0 to 16.
