CATDOLL: What is the salinity level at which mantis shrimp can survive?

The larvae of mantis shrimp have a wide adaptability to salinity and can basically adapt to the seawater in various sea areas. The salinity of 13‰ to 33‰ is suitable for seedlings. The salinity of seawater is about 35‰ for adult mantis shrimp.

It is a nutritious, juicy and tender seafood. Its meat contains more water, and the meat is sweet, tender and smooth, light and soft, and has a special and attractive flavor. Every spring is the season for spawning, and it is best to eat it at this time. The fat mantis shrimp has a full head of fat, and the meat is very tender and delicious, but it is a pity that there is more shell than meat. It has the nutrients needed by the human body, and has the effects of nourishing the kidney, clearing the mind, strengthening yang, and promoting lactation and detoxification.

Survival and growth tests were conducted on mantis shrimps Oratosquilla oratoria weighing 13-35g at different salinities. The survival test included a sudden change test and a gradual change test. The salinity gradient of the growth test was set at 24, 28, 32, and 36, and 6 mantis shrimps were released in each group. The results showed that salinity had a great influence on the survival and growth of mantis shrimps. The optimal salinity for the survival of mantis shrimps was 20-40, the adapted salinity was 24-36, and the optimal salinity for growth was about 32.

The salinity of the sea, you can use seawater directly, you can't keep it alive by adding salt directly, it lacks many other elements

Mantis shrimps belong to the Arthropoda, Crustacea, Stomatopoda, and Mantis shrimps. They are also known as "mantis shrimps" (miswritten as mantis shrimps or mantis shrimps before the common model), "mantis shrimps", "climbing shrimps", "mouth shrimps", "fortune shrimps", "slipper shrimps", etc. There are about 400 species in the world, most of which are distributed in tropical and subtropical coasts and are benthic.

If you want to keep it at home for fun, just configure it the same way as for a saltwater tank, use sea salt (saltwater aquarium stores sell it at regular intervals), and measure it with a hydrometer. The basic specific gravity is between 1.021-1.025.
