The methods and techniques for fishing large tilapia include: understanding the living habits of tilapia, matching fishing gear, bait formula, fishing techniques, etc.

1. Understand the living habits of tilapia

Tilapia is a tropical fish. It will die when the temperature is below 5 degrees, and it will basically not eat when the temperature is below 15 degrees. Therefore, it is best to choose sunny weather from May to September when the temperature is above 25 degrees and the water temperature is 30 degrees. Tilapia will eat crazily. And the food intake is very large in the afternoon, which is the best season for fishing tilapia.

2. Fishing gear matching

Fishing for tilapia mainly depends on the frequency of fishing. The rod for fishing tilapia should not be too long. If the rod is too long, you will get tired if you cast it quickly. Therefore, the longest rod for fishing tilapia should not be longer than 4.5 meters, 3.6 or 3.9 meters is better. Some competitors use a 2.7-meter rod. When fishing, use the frequency of pulling bait to gather fish. When the fish enters the nest, you can slow down the casting speed.

3. Bait formula

In spring, you should mainly use fishy baits to catch big tilapia, and then add some fruity-flavored small medicines, and the fishing effect can basically reach the expected result. You can use red worms, earthworms and shrimp baits, or you can use fishy-smelling pasta baits containing shrimp powder and chicken liver powder.

4. Fishing skills

Big tilapia live longer and are more vigilant than small tilapia. They generally do not enter the nest easily and often linger around the nest. When fishing, you can use powdered commercial bait and large-grain grain bait to make a nest, and then use the large-grain grain bait to fish half a meter to 1 meter away from the nest. This can avoid small tilapia competing for bait.
