CATDOLL: When will laying hens be eliminated? How should we deal with them?

What to do with laying hens that are eliminated after a certain period of time?

Layers are chickens that are raised to lay eggs for the purpose of supplying eggs. Eggs are the main source of income for raising laying hens. Unlike broiler chickens, the main issue for raising laying hens is to improve the quality of eggs and maintain or increase egg production, rather than to improve the quality of the chicken meat.

Under normal circumstances, laying hens should be culled after about 450-500 days, a quarter, or six months.

1. When eliminating chickens, you need to consider the feed-to-egg ratio and the egg production rate of the flock.

2. Look at the market price of eggs at that time. The price of eggs is high, so the elimination will be a little later.

3. Look at the price of feed at that time. If the price of feed is low, the elimination will be done a little later.

4. If there is an epidemic or the price of live chickens is good, they will be eliminated early.

2. Feeding seasonings. Seasonings can increase the palatability of feed, act as an appetite inducer, and promote growth. Common methods include: adding 0.1% monosodium glutamate to the diet, or adding 0.6-1% red dry chili powder to the diet; adding 0.2-0.3% garlic powder to the diet.

3. Rare earth feeding method: Adding 200-400 mg/kg of rare earth to the daily diet of chickens can increase daily weight gain by 12.4-12.8% and feed utilization rate by 12-12.8%.

4. Feeding reserpine. Reserpine is beneficial for fattening. Adding 2-3 mg/kg of reserpine to broiler feed can increase weight gain by 10-12% and shorten the feeding cycle by 3-4 days.
