CATDOLL: Where can silkworms be caught?

field.

Silkworms are divided into two categories: one is the domestic silkworm, or mulberry silkworm. They mainly feed on mulberry leaves. The other is the mountain silkworm, or tussah silkworm, which feeds on tussah leaves. The silkworm goes through four stages in its life: egg, larva, pupa and moth. The larvae of the silk moth are the main raw material for silk products and play an important role in human economic life and cultural history. They are native to southern China. Ancient texts record that Emperor Xuanyuan began to raise silkworms. The most famous silkworm in Jiangnan is the well-known wife of Emperor Huangdi, Leizu. The staple food of silkworms is mulberry leaves, which can also be supplemented with a small amount of castor leaves.

There are no wild silkworms now. If you can see silkworms on oak trees in the wild, the ones with black spots on the green surface are also artificially bred and released on oak trees. These silkworms are also regularly picked up and brought back to the breeding center, because the main economic value of these silkworms is that they are sold to supermarkets and barbecue restaurants in social catering after they turn into pupae. Domestic silkworms are not raised in the wild now. They are all raised artificially in breeding farms.
