1. Choose a gentle slope near the mountain, a barren mountain and wasteland suitable for sericulture, sow acorns, and gradually cultivate a silkworm farm, which can not only be used for sericulture, but also benefit soil and water conservation. From mid-September to late October each year, the oak acorns are ripe. Pick the acorns and select the good oak seeds that are large, plump, insect-free and odorless for sowing. Before sowing, remove the grass on the ground and dig a pit with a depth of about 50 cm and a pit mouth of 50-70 cm. After digging the pit, fill it with some topsoil, scatter 5-7 oak seeds in each pit, cover it with 3-5 cm of soil, bury it well and tamp it down to prevent moisture evaporation. 2. After planting, pay attention to the management of seedlings. Because oak trees are negative tree species, they grow slowly. If they are not managed well, they are easily bullied by grass or eaten by livestock, causing unnecessary losses. The sowing distance depends on the quality of the soil. Generally, the spacing between plants is 2 meters and the spacing between rows is 3 meters. The soil is fertile and slightly sparse, while the soil is poor and slightly dense. It is best to divide it into small areas according to the conditions of the mountain, and leave working paths between areas. Two years after sowing, when the land begins to thaw in early spring, use a quick pick to cut off the trunk close to the surface to promote luxuriant branches and leaves, improve the survival rate, and prevent the emergence of small old trees. After a certain tree is developed, it can be used for silkworm breeding. It is also possible to adopt the method of raising seedlings first and then transplanting to establish an artificial silkworm farm. This method has certain advantages in improving the survival rate and preventing the lack of seedlings, but it is more labor-intensive. 3. As the terrain of different places varies, the direction of the silkworm farm is also different. The direction of the silkworm farm is directly related to sunshine and temperature. The south-facing silkworm farm has long sunshine time and high temperature, while the north-facing silkworm farm has short sunshine time and low temperature. The sunshine time and temperature of the south-facing silkworm farm and the north-facing silkworm farm are very different. In general, it is best to raise silkworms in the southeast-facing silkworm farm. The silkworm raising period can be adjusted according to the different requirements of raising spring silkworms and autumn silkworms, the local natural meteorological conditions, the varieties of tussah silkworms used, and other conditions, and local conditions can be adjusted. |
