Ants should be raised in large quantities for production purposes, and nests should be built underground. However, if a small number of ants are raised for viewing purposes, it is still appropriate to use rectangular boxes made of glass or plastic. The ant breeding box should be deep enough to be padded with thick soil and have room for nesting. The size is 60cm*35cm*55cm. Ants are relatively active insects that move quickly, so it is better to have a spacious breeding box, and the number of ants raised can be between 30 and 50. It is best to use a layer of thin wood board at the bottom of the box, and surround the four sides of the box with thin wood boards about 30 cm wide to prevent the low temperature outside from affecting the box. Then put about 14 to 20 wood board strips and foam plastic rolling strips at the bottom of the box, and finally cover it with a layer of soil more than 10 cm thick. The soil should be slightly acidic and slightly moist. You can also put some leaves in it. No water should accumulate. The humidity should be kept at 10% to 15%. Stones can be placed on the soil layer and piled up for ants to move around. The top of the breeding box should be covered with a lid made of plastic yarn or iron yarn to facilitate ventilation, prevent ants from crawling out, and prevent other animals from attacking the ants. |
