How to breed centipedes

Centipede is a kind of excellent centipede species bred through gene mutation. It is large, fast-growing, has a stable appetite and strong immunity. Its medicinal value is more than ten times higher than that of wild centipede. Generally, the market price of wild centipede is only 0.5-1 yuan per piece, while the market price of Chinese red-headed giant centipede is as high as 6-8 yuan per piece. Its breeding technology is simple, easy to manage and has good breeding efficiency.

Feeding tools. Centipede house: It can be raised indoors in a three-dimensional box with a size of more than 1.2 square meters. It can also be raised in an underground pool. The walls are made of wood or cement structure, with a wall height of more than 0.5 meters. The inner walls are surrounded by smooth plastic film or glass veneer. The bottom is covered with loose soil (or sand) of more than 10 cm. Three rows of tiles are placed on the soil, and a layer of tiles is placed on the tiles. Repeat three or four layers. The outdoor breeding fence of centipedes is the same as that of indoor breeding, but it needs to have a shed to prevent sun, rain and insect pests. Food utensils: Use large porcelain plates or clean rectangular plastic plates for feeding plates. Put several more food plates in the breeding box so that each giant centipede can have a place. Choose small dishes for drinking plates. Each box needs more than 5, distributed everywhere in the box. The utensils should be cleaned once a day and disinfected with potassium permanganate once a week. At the same time, tools such as thermometers, hygrometers, spray bottles, exhaust fans, small brushes, and catching chopsticks are needed. To keep the room ventilated and the air fresh and clean, feces should be cleaned up in time and exhaust fans should be placed above windows or doors.

Feeding food. Feed regularly and quantitatively, evenly distributed. There are certain requirements for their food. Eat less fish and shrimp, eat more mealworms, and avoid eating fruit and insects, rotten meat, and overnight meat. Mainly choose mealworms as feed, and you can also feed fresh cooked fish every 15-20 days (cook, mash and sprinkle a thin layer on the plate), fresh cooked loach is better. Young centipedes born more than 40 days old can eat cooked egg yolks, and must be fed with fresh egg yolks once a day. Young centipedes can be separated from their mothers after 50 days. At this time, the big centipedes should be removed and the small centipedes should be left for feeding.

Feeding method. During the activity period of the Chinese red-headed giant centipede, feed it at 5-6 pm every day, and feed it once a day (every 800 centipedes can eat about 1.5 kg in 30 days). First, wipe the clean eating utensils and drinking utensils dry without leaving any water drops, and scatter them in the centipede pool, so that every centipede can approach and eat food. At this time, feed the mealworms (or fish) evenly, add cold boiled water to the drinking water tray, and do not spray water in the yard before feeding. Feed on time every day, do not feed too much fish, stop when enough is enough, so as to avoid overfeeding, indigestion, and food poisoning. Choose a flat, shallow plate (about 1-1.5 cm deep) for drinking water, and drink fresh cold boiled water once a day. Keep the indoor hygiene and avoid flies. The room temperature is usually maintained at 20-25℃. If the temperature is too high, sprinkle water outside the indoor centipede house to cool down the room. Electric fans cannot be used, and air conditioners are not recommended.

Yes; if you give birth early in the cold winter, you can adopt the non-hibernation breeding technology and keep warm. Pay attention to the giant centipede to see if it has any mental abnormalities. The red-headed giant centipede keeps running back and forth because it is attacked by the centipede or has a slight injury on the body or head. Use red mercury, centipede wine, and alcohol to wipe the whole body. Those with bloating, not eating, and walking slowly should be kept in isolation and fed with mother-born, oxytetracycline, and swelling-reducing tablets (a small amount of food can be supplied at ordinary times). Those with antennae facing backwards should be fed with oxytetracycline, oxytetracycline, and chloramphenicol, and then wiped with alcohol or centipede wine.

body.

Prevention and control of diseases and pests. Black spot disease: Black spots of different sizes are found under the body and head of the red-headed giant centipede. You can use 0.6 grams of motherwort, 0.25 grams of oxytetracycline, and 0.25 grams of chloramphenicol. Grind them together and mix them with feed insects for 7 consecutive days to prevent and control. For severe cases, they can be fed separately. You can also use emulsifiers such as streptomycin, amphotericin, cycloheximide and cinamicin for prevention and control. Gastroenteritis: Mix 0.5 grams of sulfa tablets with feed insects for feeding, or 0.25 grams of chloramphenicol with 300 grams of feed insects for feeding. Shelling disease: The red-headed giant centipede grows fast. When shelling, it is difficult to shell if the humidity is too dry. Too much humidity will produce small mites and fungal parasites. At this time, you should feed 0.5 grams of oxytetracycline, 0.6 grams of motherwort, and 1 calcium tablet every 10 days. Grind them together, mix them with 400 feed insects and feed them continuously.

Reproduction and hatching. The Chinese red-headed giant centipede usually mates in March-June and lays eggs in May-August, laying 50-60 eggs each time. After laying eggs, the giant centipede will hold the eggs in its arms and incubate them. The eggs will hatch after about 20 days of incubation, and can leave the mother's body to live independently after 45 days. A quiet environment and suitable dryness and humidity should be maintained during the incubation period. The general incubation temperature should be controlled at 12-15℃, 25-32℃ at normal times, and the relative humidity of the air should be controlled at 50%-70%. As the small red-headed giant centipede continues to shed its skin and grow, the individual grows. When the giant centipede is about 80 mm long, its food intake increases and its weight increases accordingly. It should be fully supplied with food, usually fed with cooked egg yolks. If molting is found,

It should be managed in isolation. Choose pure Chinese red-headed giant centipede as seedlings, and do not choose wild or hybrid varieties.

How long does it take for a centipede to grow from a larva to an adult in captivity?

It usually takes 4 years for artificially bred centipedes to grow from larvae to adults before laying eggs and reproducing.
