CATDOLL: What are the commonly used bee species in beekeeping in my country and what are their characteristics?

1. What are the bee species commonly used in beekeeping in my country and what are their characteristics?

Types of bee species. In my country, bee species are mainly divided into two categories: Italian bees and Chinese bees. These two categories of bees can be further divided into purebred bees and hybrid bees. The so-called purebred bees are generally bees of the same bee species bred by artificial insemination to avoid interference from other bees, and they have fixed genetic material; hybrid bees refer to bees bred through natural reproduction of bees. Since this type of bee species mates naturally, it is difficult to exclude interference from other bees, and it may contain genetic material from other bees. For example, the bees in the same apiary in our country hybridize with wild bees to produce hybrids.

What is the concept of improved bees? For bees, there is actually no accurate concept of improved bees, but a relative concept. It should be said that any bee species with good production traits, strong honey and syrup production ability, wax secretion ability and strong resistance to adversity can be considered as improved bees. Therefore, the concept of improved bees is not aimed at hybrid bees or purebred bees. As long as the bee species can bring high benefits to beekeepers, they can be considered as improved bees, which can be hybrids or purebreds.

Factors affecting bee production efficiency:

First: Regional factors. As mentioned above, any bee species that can bring high benefits to beekeepers can be considered a good species. However, due to the strong dependence of bees on the outside world, the quality of bee species is not absolute, but a relative concept. At present, there is no bee species that can show its excellent traits everywhere. Therefore, when we judge whether a bee species is a good species, we often have to start from the local climate conditions and nectar sources, compare multiple bee species under the same conditions, and then finally get the good bees suitable for the local area.

Second: the expression of excellent traits. Since the excellent traits of bees are related to the region, the expression of the excellent traits of bees actually depends on the environment. For example, the most numerous bee species in my country is the Western honey bee. Western honey bees are suitable for breeding in warm places. If we breed them in cold places, due to the influence of climatic conditions, the strong reproductive ability of Italian honey bees may not be expressed. Therefore, for such places, Italian honey bees cannot be considered a good variety; on the contrary, if they are bred in places with suitable climatic conditions, due to suitable climatic conditions, the bees have strong egg-laying ability, and various excellent traits can be better expressed, then in such places Italian honey bees can be considered a good variety.

The same is true for my country's native honeybees. Since they are good at utilizing scattered nectar sources, their excellent traits will be well reflected in mountainous areas with a wide variety of nectar sources, and they can be considered a good breed. However, in plains, due to the single plant species, some plants may even have pollen tubes that are too long for the honeybee's proboscis to absorb nectar, making it impossible for the honeybee to collect such nectar sources. In the case of a large reduction in auxiliary scattered nectar sources, the excellent traits of the honeybee are difficult to reflect. For such places, the honeybee cannot be considered a good bee species.

2. What are the different types of bees? What are their differences?

What are the different types of bees? How do they differ?

1. Overview: The Chinese honey bee is an excellent bee species native to my country. It is also known as the Chinese bee, native bee, wild bee, etc. It has a small body, a black head and chest, a yellow-black abdomen, and is covered with yellow-brown hair. It is distributed in my country from the southeast coast to the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.

2. Advantages: The Chinese honey bee has a very strong adaptability, is agile in flight, has a keen sense of smell, leaves the nest early and returns late, is diligent in collecting nectar, is good at using scattered nectar sources, has a strong ability to build honeycombs, and has a strong resistance to bee mites and American foulbrood, making it suitable for fixed-point breeding in mountainous areas.

3. Disadvantages: Chinese honey bees love to gnaw on old combs and migrate, are prone to natural swarming and bee theft, are easily infected by sac brood disease, are easily harmed by wax moths, do not collect gum, have poor ability to secrete royal jelly, the queen bee lays relatively few eggs per day, and the colony is relatively small.

Susceptible to wax holes, no gum collection, secret bees, Taiwan spider bees, yellow-waisted tiger bees, black-waisted tiger bees, black-bellied tiger bees, black-tailed wasps, long-term wasps, variable side-wing wasps, cheap slim bees, etc. Poor royal jelly capacity, daily production of queen eggs. The advantages of European black bees are weak bee differentiation, strong harvesting ability, good at using sporadic nectar sources, saving food, strong cold resistance, strong orientation, no theft, and may form a strong bee colony after summer. The disadvantages are fierce, spicy, and difficult to manage; there are various roads.

The queen bee is the only female bee in the bee colony that is capable of reproduction. There is usually only one queen bee in a bee colony. The main duties of the queen bee are to lay eggs and secrete "pheromone queen bee" to maintain the classification of the bee colony. The bee tribe believes that this is mainly related to the type of bee and the bee family. Everyone knows that the delicious sweetness of Mel can make his face bold and relieve fatigue.

It can be said that beekeeping is very common in China. Now, the bees made in China are divided into Oriental honey bees and Western honey bees. They have strong fertility, weak bee differentiation, and mild temperament. Because they are related to the hotspots of South Asia in China, in addition, although there are about 40 species of honey bees, there are about 10 species of Oriental honey bees, such as Chinese honey bees, Indian honey bees, Japanese honey bees, etc.

3. What types of honey bees are there according to their geographical distribution? What are the species of each?

The Oriental honey bee is a species of the genus Apis, mainly distributed throughout Asia.

The Chinese honey bees currently raised or wild in China belong to the Oriental honey bee. Oriental honey bees can be divided into the following types according to their geographical distribution: South Asian type: mainly including three honey bee species, namely Indian honey bees, Pakistani honey bees, and Afghan honey bees. Island type: mainly including three honey bee species, namely Java honey bees, Timor honey bees, and Philippine honey bees. East Asian type: mainly including three species, namely Chinese honey bees (referred to as Chinese honey bees), Burmese honey bees, and Japanese honey bees.

4. What is another name for bee?

Honey bees have no nicknames.

Honey bees belong to the phylum Arthropoda, class Insecta, order Hymenoptera, suborder Apocrita, suborder Aculeata, superfamily Apoidea, family Apidae, subfamily Apinae, and genus Apis in taxonomy. The genus Apis consists of seven independent species. According to the evolutionary level and enzyme spectrum analysis, the western honey bee is the most advanced, followed by the oriental honey bee, and the black honey bee is the lowest (Figure 1-81), that is, it increases in order from small honey bees → large honey bees → oriental honey bees → western honey bees.
