CATDOLL: What effect does the centipede have on the red dragon fish?

1. What effect does centipede have on red dragon fish?

Centipedes are one of the favorite foods of dragon fish, and they are very good for the color of dragon fish. However, centipedes are mainly for adult dragon fish, that is, dragon fish over 35 cm. Therefore, when dragon fish are young and medium-sized, try to feed frogs, small fish, shrimps and other high-protein baits to promote the growth of dragon fish.

Dragon fish can eat centipedes, which are poisonous, so centipedes must be processed before feeding them. A safer approach is to soak the centipedes in vinegar water for seven or eight minutes, and then spit out the venom in the centipedes.

Then rinse it again with clean water; use scissors to cut off the centipede's venom glands, that is, remove the front third of the centipede's body. Centipedes can only be used as snacks for arowana, and do not need to be fed too much.

Additional information:

Dragon fish need weakly acidic to neutral water quality to survive, soft water hardness, pH value between 6.5-7.5, DH value between 3-12. The water temperature can be 24-28 degrees Celsius, and the nitrite content and chlorine content should be zero.

Sodium dihydrogen phosphate Note: The pH value should not exceed 0.5-1pH every day. Violent fluctuations will cause the death of the dragon fish. Tip: Appropriate aeration and oxygenation can stabilize the pH value.

The subtle nitrogen cycle: As long as you have fish in your tank, they will excrete ammonia and other waste products into the water, causing the ammonia concentration in the water to rise, and of course the beneficial microorganisms (digestive bacteria) in the water will break down the ammonia.

Theoretically, it is OK to feed centipedes, but I still don't recommend it. First, it depends on your dragon fish's preference. Some dragon fish don't like it. Second, it depends on the situation of the centipede. How should I put it? I have seen centipedes bite dragon fish, causing broken whiskers or damaged scales. If you really want to try it, you can feed some small centipedes to see if the dragon fish likes it. Then decide! If you must feed centipedes to red dragon fish, 2-4 centipedes at a time are appropriate, depending on the size. Red dragon fish are generally fed twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening.

I can provide a recipe. These things are generally edible to red dragon fish: loach, cricket, goldfish, grasshopper, shrimp, mealworms, and small live fish (1.5-2.5cm) that are sold in the market for dragon fish, etc. For red dragon fish, it is recommended to feed red arrow or shrimp, which can enhance the color of red dragon fish, because red arrow and shrimp contain red pigment.

Fish lovers like you can visit the dragon fish market more often.

2. How thick can a red dragon centipede be?

Chinese red dragon centipede Guangxi species

Scientific name: Scolopendra subspinipes dehaani [China]

Current body length: 16~cm+, maximum record 24cm, fast speed, agile movements, bad temper, very brave, red head, brown body, yellow legs, bright colors, cheap, easy to raise, suitable for novice players.

The best breeding temperature: 20~28℃, humidity is about 70%. For the breeding environment, you can choose an acrylic breeding box with a length, width and height of 13cm:23cm:13cm, and give 3~4cm coconut soil as the bedding material, with a water basin and a hiding hole. Feeding: Crickets, locusts, cherry red cockroaches, Dubia cockroaches and other insects~ You can also feed barley worms. Because barley worms like to drill the soil, you can cut off the barley worm heads and place them in the breeding box. Centipedes will come out at night to find corpses to eat. Because centipedes are nocturnal animals, it is better to feed them at night to keep the food fresh. If you have time, please clean up the food residue on the second day to maintain the environmental hygiene of the breeding environment. When white insects (mites) are found in the bedding, the bedding should be replaced.

You can throw in a whole fish, or a dead fish, and it's up to you how often you feed it. There are no rules.

4. Will the red dragon centipede freeze to death at a temperature of over 10 degrees?

The red dragon centipede will freeze to death at a temperature of more than 10 degrees. The red dragon centipede can survive freezing to death only at temperatures above 3 or 4 degrees above zero. It will freeze to death as long as the temperature drops below zero.
