Ten basic methods of raising scorpions

Scorpion breeding is a special type of breeding, which is different from ordinary breeding such as pig and chicken breeding. If you don’t have the skills in ordinary breeding, you can make some money by luck only by relying on good market conditions; but scorpion breeding relies entirely on technology to make money. In the process of raising scorpions for many years, I often meet some friends who say that they have also raised scorpions but failed. After detailed communication, I found that they can only say that they have raised scorpions before, but in fact they don’t understand the technology of raising scorpions at all. The following editor will introduce you to the ten basic methods of raising scorpions, I hope it can help you!

1. Introducing species nearby

Due to the different environmental factors such as temperature and soil in different regions, if the distance span of introduction is too large, the scorpions will not adapt to the local climate and cause death. Therefore, if it is the first time to raise scorpions, you must go to the nearest scorpion farm to introduce the species.

2. Less fright

Although scorpions have powerful tails, they are actually very timid animals. If you frequently turn over the scorpion's nest, it will be frightened and will run around and not return to its nest. Eventually, it will die without eating or drinking.

3. Food should be fresh

Scorpions have the habit of cannibalizing each other. In fact, this can be reduced or even avoided. If scorpions can be provided with fresh and live insects, they will rarely cannibalize each other. Therefore, you must solve the feed problem first.

4. Pregnancy Care

Scorpions usually give birth in midsummer. If male and female scorpions are raised together at this time, the female scorpion will have a miscarriage because she cannot find a quiet place to give birth. The male scorpion will also eat the newly born baby scorpions. Therefore, pregnant scorpions must be raised separately and kept quiet when giving birth.

5. Prenatal Care

After the mother scorpion gives birth, the baby scorpions need to crawl on the mother's back for a period of time until they shed their shells for the first time before they can survive on the ground normally. If the mother scorpion and its baby scorpions stay together for more than 10 days without providing food and water, the mother scorpion will be hungry and thirsty and will eat the baby scorpions without mercy.

6. Raising young scorpions

After the baby scorpion has shed its skin for the first time, it will fall off the mother scorpion. At this time, the baby scorpion's appetite will increase greatly, and it needs to eat a small insect every day. However, since the baby scorpion's self-predation ability is very weak, if the feed is too large, the baby scorpion cannot kill it, and the baby scorpion will cannibalize each other. If there are not enough small mealworms or other small insects, it is difficult for the baby scorpion to grow into an adult scorpion.

7. Separation of mother and cub

When the young scorpions are at a temperature of 28℃ to 35℃, they will begin to shed their skin for the first time on the mother's back after about 8 days. After molting, they will crawl off the mother's back and start to move. At this time, the young scorpions will be milky white all over, and will begin to turn pink after 10 hours, and finally turn brown-red. The appetite of both the mother scorpion and the young scorpion will be greatly increased at this time, so they should be separated artificially immediately. The specific method is: first, remove the mother scorpion after giving birth and put it in the original adult scorpion pool and mix it with the male scorpion and strengthen the feeding, so that it can eat fat and recover its physical condition as soon as possible and mate in advance, and then gently pour the young scorpions in the bottle together with the sand into the young scorpion pool for feeding. The young scorpions separated in this way are basically free of casualties.

8. Escape Prevention Measures

Although scorpions cannot fly, they have strong crawling ability. No matter what method of breeding is used, they must be surrounded and taped with wide-edged transparent tape, glass strips or plastic cloth to prevent the scorpion from taking the opportunity to run away.

9. Prevent flooding

The respiratory and reproductive systems of scorpions are in the lower part of their bodies, so they must not be submerged in water. Water should be added during the day, and do not add too much water at a time, just enough to make the soil slightly moist. Provide drinking water for scorpions, use a small plate with a few absorbent sponges or cotton, and generally change the water once a week. Do not let scorpions drink spoiled water for a long time, otherwise they will die of illness.

10. Prevent rodent damage

Scorpions are poisonous, so they don't have many enemies. But if they hibernate in winter, they have no defense against mice. In summer, mice will also eat mealworms and earthworms. So we must do a good job of preventing mice.
