What are the advantages of large partitions and small partitions for raising bees?

The large partition is also called the middle partition or the queen gate. From the queen gate, we can clearly see that the main purpose of the large partition is to separate the queens, that is, to separate the two queens, and even the worker bees cannot pass through the middle, which divides a beehive into two independent areas. There is a fence in the middle, so it is also called the queen fence or the large partition. The fence in the middle of the queen gate is mainly to prevent the queen from passing through, and only allow the honey bees to pass through. The main function is to separate the main box and the super box of the beehive, so that the bees can lay eggs in the main box and make honey in the super box.

The small partitions are mainly used to prevent the temperature from spreading outward in large quantities, so that the brood combs can maintain a stable temperature. This is especially important and obvious in spring breeding. Therefore, small partitions are also indispensable in the beehive. These are the different uses of large and small partitions. If the new queen fails to mate, we can release the old queen and remove the large partition, and the bee colony will return to normal. In fact, separating a comb can also be regarded as forming a small mating group, so that we can get more egg-laying queens.

To meet the needs of bee colony development; when the number of bees is less than 3, the honeycomb can be placed on one side of the beehive, and a small partition can be added on the outermost side to press the bees, so as to achieve the purpose of heat preservation or to encourage the bees to build honeycombs; when the daily average temperature reaches 25℃ or above, the small partition can be removed. , the egg-laying performance is still maintained, and the residual heat can be exerted once it is combined, and there are even signs of explosive production (getting enough rest in the small group). This can not only prevent worker bees from laying eggs, but also obtain more honey, and avoid the dilemma of no successor bees in the bee colony.

Use necessary artificial means to cool the beehive. The best way is to move the beehive to a cool and ventilated place. You can also build sunshade facilities for the beehive. If the temperature of the beehive is too high and cannot be dissipated, the bees will die or become sick. Weather with a large temperature difference between morning and evening is even more counterproductive. In fact, if the inside of the beehive is overheated, the bees will spread out the honeycombs and climb onto the small partitions, the cover of the beehive, and the walls of the beehive to fan the air and cool it down. Small partitions are better for fanning and cooling. Just make the bee path larger.

The large partition is also called the middle partition or the queen gate. From the queen gate, we can clearly see that the main purpose of the large partition is to separate the queens, that is, to separate the two queens, and even the worker bees cannot pass through the middle, which divides a beehive into two independent areas. There is actually another name for the small partition, that is, the insulation board. From here we can clearly see that the main purpose of the small partition is to control the size of the bee colony.

Large partitions can be used to divide bees into different areas for breeding, which can help to cultivate more queen bees, accelerate reproduction, and help to keep warm when the temperature is unstable; small partitions are mainly placed on the side to prevent bees from flying around. The main purpose of small partitions is to keep warm and control the strength of the bee colony.

Fixed bee farms have hung up some large bee collecting cages. What are their functions?

During our many years of beekeeping, we have found that during the swarming season and the escape period, some of the swarmed bees will follow the queen and stay on nearby tree branches or under the eaves for a while before deciding on the next direction to fly. Therefore, being good at using bee collecting cages can play a very good role in capturing swarming bee colonies or escaped colonies.

1. Signs of bee colonies leaving or abandoning the nest

Careful beekeepers will easily find that when a bee colony is about to leave or abandon its nest, the bees will stop working in a short period of time and suck enough honey from the hive. The escaping bees usually fly out with full stomachs and honey. The first few bees that fly out will hover around the original nest and stink and dance in a suitable place for gathering and resting nearby, attracting more bees. As the number of bees increases, a bee colony will form on the treetops or branches nearby, or under the eaves. In one case, the bees will start to migrate after a short rest after gathering in a nearby group. In this case, the scout bees of the bee colony have generally found a place to go in advance. In another case, the bees need to stay for a long time after gathering in a nearby group before migrating to a new location. The scout bees of the bee colony did not detect the new location, but temporarily selected a location. When the scout bees go out and cannot find a suitable place to build a nest, the bee colony may have to wait for several hours or even days, and even secrete beeswax to build a few honeycombs in a slightly covered temporary cluster. This is generally a temporary expedient.

2. If the above situation occurs, the

If such bee colonies often swarm and fly away, or the whole colony escapes, it will cause some spiritual and material losses to the beekeepers. In order to avoid such incidents, it is necessary to understand the characteristics of bee swarming and flight, prevent and stop them in advance, and transform some negative factors into positive factors that are beneficial to feeding and management. In addition, it is important to strengthen the timely sheltering and timely capture of outbound bee groups. By creating an environment, a temporary stopover is created for the newly-flying bee colonies, and it is much more convenient to use black cloth to collect beehives. A large Chinese bee breeding household will evenly hang beehive cages around his bee farm, and the beehive cages will be appropriately boiled with beeswax water, so that the beehives will have a taste that bees like. Generally, the beehive cages are hung on the branches of the bee farm or under the eaves. In the swarming season, when leaving the bee farm, the separated bees will find a nearby place to stay as soon as possible, and the beehive cages create a better environment for the bees to stay, and most of them will not rush to fly to the next new site. This will extend the time for the capture work, and when you come back from outside, you can collect the boxes.

In addition, the escaping bees will first find a place to stay nearby. Such bee colonies also like to stay temporarily in the beehive cage. If they cannot find a new safe place for a while, they will secrete wax to build honeycombs in the beehive cage, and they have the intention to stay there. Therefore, using the black cloth beehive cage, the bee colonies that are accidentally separated or escaped from the bee farm can be successfully captured in nine out of ten cases. It saves the trouble of chasing the bee colony and spraying water or throwing sand, and there is no danger of climbing trees to collect bees. This method is still worth promoting.

3. Reasonable use of beehives

There are many uses for collecting beehives:

1. The bees lured in the wild can be collected by placing a beehive cage on top of the beehive or above the cave, spraying smoke or tapping lightly to collect the bees into the cage, making it easier to collect honey; after the operation, they can be shaken back into the box or the original place;

2. Collect the beehives and close the mouth, or take the bees back to the apiary for transfer;

3. To collect temporary bee colonies, you can tie the beehive with a wooden stick or bamboo pole, brush some honey inside, and stretch the probe to the place where the bee colony stays;

4. Transfer the local bee colony to the live frame to facilitate bee collection.

In short, if beekeepers hang up and collect beehives frequently, they will reap many unexpected surprises. They may even be able to collect bee colonies that have separated from other places or that have escaped.

It can prevent the swarming season and the escape period, facilitate the operation of collecting honey, and bring the bees back to the apiary for transfer and convenient bee collection.

Doing so can better prevent bee mites and effectively solve the problem during the flight period.

This is mainly done to prevent bee mites, allowing bees to collect honey better and grow better.
