CATDOLL: What should I feed crabs when breeding them?

Sea crabs are different from ordinary crabs. They mainly eat fish feed, wood blocks, bread crumbs, etc. Small fish and shrimps are their favorites. Some crabs also eat seaweed, and even animal carcasses or plants.

Sea crabs live in soft mud, sandy mud, rocks or water plants near the coast at a depth of 7 to 100 meters. A small number of small or medium individuals can also be collected at the low tide line of the intertidal zone. They often use the fingertips of the first three pairs of walking legs to crawl slowly on the seabed, swim with swimming legs, or move forward to the side or backward.

When encountering an enemy, they raise their large claws to defend themselves or attack the enemy, or use the last two sections of their swimming legs to dig sand and dive into the bottom upright. They have the habit of foraging at night and have obvious phototropism, so they can be trapped with lights.

Additional information:

Sea crabs are nocturnal animals, so it is best to feed them after 10 pm. Change the food every day. Land crabs usually use their front claws to find organic matter in the sand to fill their stomachs. They can be fed with rice, bread crumbs, eggs, fruits and vegetables, fish feed, etc. In addition, they are also particularly fond of corn and popcorn.

For example, after molting, you can give them more calcium and protein foods such as meat, fish, eggshells, cooked shrimp (with shells), etc. Do not feed them onions, foods containing mustard, spicy foods, processed foods with preservatives or additives, sugars, foods containing a lot of oil, foods with insect repellent effects, and vegetables and plants with insecticide effects.

Mineral water, distilled water or boiled water can be used as drinking water. Do not use tap water containing chlorine. Land crabs breathe through their gills, and water containing chlorine will harm their health. Two basins are needed to store fresh water (for drinking) and sea water (for bathing). The amount of sea water is 100ml: 3g.
