CATDOLL: What is maggot breeding used for? Attached is the breeding method

Maggots are high-protein animal feeds that can replace commercial feeds such as fish meal for animal feeding. Maggots are low-cost, fast-growing, disease-resistant, and good meat quality. The protein in maggots can not only be used as high-quality protein feed, but also can be used to extract antibacterial proteins. During the production process, a variety of biochemical products such as fat, antibiotics, and lectins can be obtained at the same time.

1. What are maggots used for?

1. Maggots are high-protein animal feed. They can replace commercial feeds such as fish meal to feed economic animals. Using maggots as feed has the advantages of low cost, fast growth, strong disease resistance, and good meat quality. Economic animals that can be fed with maggots include chickens, ducks, pigs, dogs, carp, crucian carp, catfish, sturgeon, catfish, pond horn fish, yellow eel, turtle, eel, sweet-scented fish, prawns, crabs, frogs, scorpions, centipedes, geckos, snakes, pigeons, etc.

2. The protein in the maggots can not only be used as high-quality protein feed, but also can be used to extract antibacterial protein and develop advanced nutritional food. In the production process, a variety of biochemical products such as fat, antibiotics, and lectins can also be obtained at the same time. Antibacterial protein can eliminate all fungal microorganisms and has a strong bactericidal effect. The maggot shells are the best raw materials for extracting chitin. Chitin is the sixth essential element for human life in addition to sugar, protein, fat, vitamins and minerals.

3. Raising maggots is relatively simple and convenient. Maggot production does not require any epidemic prevention measures or modern factories. It only requires measures such as heat preservation, manure supply, and escape prevention to achieve large-scale production. Moreover, maggots do not produce toxic substances and do not pollute the environment.

2. Maggot breeding method

1. Fly house construction

(1) To raise maggots, you first need flies, so that maggots can be produced. Therefore, you must first build a fly house for breeding flies.

(2) Flies are creatures that are particularly easy to escape, so the fly room needs to have an enclosed walkway and be set up in a semi-basement mode.

(3) After the setup is completed, hang black curtains on the door to prevent flies from escaping. In addition, since black curtains have a warming effect, they can also promote the growth rate of flies and make them reproduce quickly.

2. Fly and insect breeding and management

(1) Food trays, egg-laying trays and hatching trays must be placed in the fly house. The feed for raising flies can be brown sugar, yeast powder or some other food. Generally, you can choose the food that flies prefer.

(2) Feed the flies once a day and add a little chicken manure to the fly house every day to increase the fly's egg-laying efficiency.

(3) After the flies mate, the egg-laying tray should be placed in time, and then the egg-laying tray should be replaced in time, and finally the tray should be kept warm.

3. Maggot house construction

(1) The maggot house can be built into a simple three-dimensional breeding room, and a three-dimensional breeding rack or breeding basin can be used.

(2) If the maggots are raised directly indoors, they must be set up in a semi-basement mode, and the ground and walls need to be plastered with cement to prevent the maggots from escaping.

(3) The three-dimensional frame can be built using cement and steel bars, with each layer being approximately 30 cm high.

4. Maggot breeding and management

(1) Maggots basically feed on rotten food, so when breeding, you must feed them some rotten food, or chicken manure or pig manure.

(2) You also need to add some bran and sufficient nutrients, because maggots have a very strong killing ability.

(3) Pay attention to regulating the temperature of the breeding room. It should not fluctuate too much. At the same time, ensure that there is no water accumulation in the room.

5. Separation management

(1) The maggots need to be separated after about a week of breeding, because generally the maggots will slowly turn yellow after about a week. If they wait any longer, they will be worthless.

(2) When separating the maggots, you must start from the bottom, because maggots are very afraid of strong light. After separation, some nutrients will remain, so they can be reused. Be sure to rinse the separated maggots clean.
