Which marine fish are suitable for breeding in the north?

Some friends want to know which marine fish can be artificially cultivated, and whether the marine fish sold on the market are wild or farmed? Here I mainly introduce marine fish in the north that can be artificially cultivated. Some can only be artificially cultivated, and some are both farmed and wild. I will not introduce how to distinguish between artificial and wild here.

turbot

A type of flatfish, also known as turbot. Originated from the Atlantic Ocean in Europe, it is recognized as one of the world's high-quality flatfish. It was introduced from the UK by the Yellow Sea Fisheries Research Institute of China in 1992. After the large-scale seedling production was successful in 1999, it was promoted for breeding in the northern coastal areas. It has now become an important breeding variety in the northern coastal areas of China. From seedlings to commercial fish, it usually takes 10 to 12 months to grow to about 500g for sale. Because it is an alien species, it is not allowed to be aquacultured in natural sea areas in principle. Most of the products on the market are farmed. I dare not say or ask if there are any wild ones in China.

Flounder

A type of flounder, commonly known as flatfish, flatfish, flateye, left-mouth, etc. in my country. It is a precious marine fish and one of the important marine aquaculture fish. In the late 1970s, large-scale seedling production research began, and now it has become an important aquaculture and aquaculture species in my country. After one and a half years of breeding, the weight can reach 700-1000 grams of commercial fish. Both wild and artificial breeding are produced.

Pufferfish

It is also known as Oriental pufferfish, Timba, and Air Drumfish. Its meat is very delicious, but its liver, intestines, and ovaries are highly poisonous. Pufferfish can be cultured in seawater cages or ponds. It is produced both in farms and in the wild. If you want to eat it, it is recommended to go to a store with a professional certificate.

Sea Bass

Other names include perch, flower perch, perch fish, perch chicken, flower village, four-gill fish, and perch shark. It is distributed along the coast of my country, with a large number in the Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea. The perch raised in cages in northern my country can reach 350-400g per seedling in the same year. It is produced both in the wild and in farmed areas. California perch is also known as black bass and largemouth black bass. It is native to California, USA, and is a precious carnivorous fish. It was introduced to my country in the early 1980s. It is a farmed variety.

Black carp

The scientific name is Scorpionfish of Xu's, commonly known as black fish, black scorpionfish, black skirt, black village, thorny hair, black head, black stone bass, black carp, and carp. Its meat is delicious and it is known as the black grouper along the Shandong coast. my country has started basic research on the breeding ecology of Scorpionfish of Xu's since 1981. In recent years, it has become the main fish cultured in seawater cages in Dalian, Yantai, Weihai, and Qingdao. It is also an important aquaculture variety. It is produced both in breeding and in the wild.

Cynoglossus semilaevis

Commonly known as "dragon tongue", ox tongue, sole, sole, sole, fine scales, sole rice. It lives in the coastal waters of China all year round. The natural resources of half-smooth tongue sole are small, the taste is fresh and delicious, and the meat yield is high. It is a newly developed breeding variety. It is usually mixed with Chinese shrimp in ponds. It can reach more than 300 grams in half a year.

Stone flounder

A type of flatfish, also known as slate, shigangzi, shijiangzi, shijing, shijia, and two-color flatfish. It is mainly produced in the Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea in my country. Since its development around 2000, it has become an important high-end aquaculture species and an export commodity. It is produced in both farmed and wild forms.

American red fish

Also known as the eye-spotted drum, red drum, red bass, spotted tail bass, etc., it is native to the Atlantic coast and the Gulf of Mexico. In 1995, the first generation of red fish fry in my country was successfully bred. Generally, in the northern region, it can be raised to an adult fish of 500-750 grams in the same year. Because it is an alien species, it is not allowed to be aquacultured in natural sea areas in principle.

Other species such as yellow croaker, cobia, amberjack, snapper, grouper, etc. are mostly farmed in southern seawater and will not be introduced here.
