How to cultivate green water to feed Daphnia?

Green water indicates that there are abundant algae in the water body, which is suitable for the growth and reproduction of Daphnia. However, if there is no Daphnia, it is impossible for Daphnia to grow automatically. You must find a source of Daphnia outside and then introduce it into the green water. Only in this way can you get a large number of Daphnia. Daphnia is a small crustacean that can be used as fish feed. It is pollution-free and nutritious.

How to breed Daphnia:

Daphnia reproduce faster in warm water, and the most suitable temperature for their growth is 18-25 degrees Celsius. Therefore, when breeding Daphnia, the water level in the pond should be kept at about 1.5 meters to prevent Daphnia from floating on the water surface and freezing.

The growth of Daphnia cannot be separated from sufficient light. If the environment is dark, its reproduction will be affected to a certain extent. Therefore, it is best to place the breeding container in a sunny place, but avoid the water temperature rising too quickly. If the water is too hot, it needs to be added with cold water in time.

Daphnia are more suitable to live in nutrient-rich water, that is, the nutrient content of the water must be high enough so that it can grow well. You can add an appropriate amount of organic matter to the water, such as milk, flour solution, etc., but don't add too much, so as not to deteriorate the water quality and cause a large number of Daphnia to die.

How to breed Daphnia using green water:

1. Collect Daphnia: If you want to breed a large number of Daphnia, you first need to collect them from the wild. They can usually be found in fields, fish ponds, and even wastewater pools. They look like white particles jumping around in the water. You can use stockings as a net to collect them and put them in a bottle with the original water.

2. Cultivate green water: If the water in the fish tank is relatively clear, if you want to turn it into green water, you need to increase the light and put some fertilizer in the water, so that the water will quickly turn green. If there is a lack of algae in the tank, you can also buy some spirulina to cultivate it, which is easy to bloom.

3. Oxygenation and temperature control: In order to promote the reproduction of Daphnia, sufficient oxygen must be provided and the temperature must be controlled. You can use an oxygen pump to oxygenate the water, and you should also add fertilizer regularly. Of course, you can also feed the fish more, so that the fish feces can also provide nutrition for Daphnia.

Summary: This is my own breeding experience, low cost, low time, Daphnia are not as difficult to raise as people say on the Internet. Just to avoid group annihilation, I breed them separately, and slowly gain experience. You will find that they are very hardy. Containers, foam boxes, buckets, storage boxes will all be fine. A fish tank stool suction device is only a few dollars. Green water is optional. I won't talk about yeast, it is sold everywhere.
