CATDOLL: What do tilapia eat?

Adult tilapia mainly feeds on plankton and organic debris. It is an omnivorous fish that mainly feeds on plant-based bait.

Whether it is a single culture or a mixed culture with domestic fish as the main species, the water quality should be fertile. Fertilization is used to cultivate water quality so that there is abundant biological bait in the water body. Generally, 100-150 kg of manure or 200-300 kg of green manure is applied per mu per week. During the breeding period, regular water injection or water changes are adopted to promote phytoplankton to photosynthesize and keep the water body sufficiently oxygenated, which is conducive to the growth and feeding of tilapia. Tilapia is native to Africa and is a terrestrial tropical fish. The genus Tilapia includes more than 100 species and subspecies. Tilapia has the characteristics of fast growth, high yield, miscellaneous diet, few diseases, and strong reproductive capacity.
