1. Is catfish easy to raise?Catfish are easy to raise and have a strong ability to adapt to the environment. However, the water quality for breeding catfish must be clear and pollution-free. The pond must be disinfected and fertilized before stocking. Select healthy and disease-free high-quality fry to stock. Ensure that the feed is scientific and reasonable. Carry out breeding management and disease prevention work in a timely manner. Patrol the pond every day, add water and oxygen in time to promote the growth of fry. Is catfish easy to raise? Catfish, also known as catfish, live mostly in the lower layers of rivers, lakes, reservoirs, and ponds. They are carnivorous fish and the most widely distributed fish in the catfish family. They do not have very high requirements for the environment and have strong adaptability, so it is relatively easy to breed. Catfish farming technology 1. Growth environment The pond for breeding catfish requires clear and pollution-free water. To ensure good water quality, an appropriate amount of aquatic plants such as water lilies are planted on the water surface to provide shade for the fry and to regulate water quality. 2. Preparation before launching 30 days before stocking the fry, disinfect the pond with quicklime; 7 days before stocking the fry, apply an appropriate amount of base fertilizer to the pond to fertilize the water, promote the reproduction and growth of plankton in the pond, and provide sufficient bait for the fry. 3. Selection and placement of fry Select healthy and lively fry that are not injured, are larger than 3cm and of uniform size. Before releasing the fry, mix salt and water in a ratio of 1:30 and soak them in the water for about 5 minutes. Choose a sunny day to release the fry, and the stocking density is generally controlled at 6,000-10,000 per mu. After releasing the fry, add new water and a small amount of fertilizer to the pond every 2-3 days to ensure water quality and promote the growth of the fry. 4. Feeding Use cooked egg yolk or small cladoceran and copepod plankton as the starter food for the fry. As the fry continue to grow, they can be fed with water fleas, mosquito larvae, water earthworms, fly maggots or pig blood, artificial fry compound feed, etc. In the early stage of fry cultivation, animal feed is mainly fed. When the fry grow to 5-7cm, they are trained and gradually switched to plant feed, combining animal and plant feed to ensure balanced nutrition. Feeding follows the "four-fixed" principle. The daily feeding amount is controlled at around 5-8% of the total weight of the fish, and the feeding amount is adjusted every 7-15 days. 5. Reproduction management Catfish enters the peak breeding season from March to May every year. Select mature male and female breeding fish, group them into groups of 3 males and 1 female, and put them into the shaking net. Before collecting eggs, check the softness of the female fish's abdomen with your hands and squeeze it gently. If eggs are discharged, you can use the dry guidance method to collect eggs. If no eggs are produced after pressing with your hands, wait for a while before checking again. Wrap the female fish that can ovulate with gauze, point its reproductive opening towards a clean, water-free porcelain container for collecting eggs, and gently squeeze the female fish's anus with your hands. The eggs will slowly fall into the container. After the egg collection is completed, the prepared sperm suspension is stirred with the fry and an appropriate amount of clean water is added to wash away the excess sperm. Repeat several times and the artificial insemination is completed. The fertilized eggs are green-yellow spherical with slight red spots and a diameter of about 1.65-1.8mm. They are not sticky at first and only become sticky after 20 minutes. Therefore, they should be sprinkled on the egg-attaching sheets before they become sticky and gently stirred with a feather to ensure that the fertilized eggs are evenly attached and improve the hatching rate. 6. Disease prevention Change the pond water frequently, replace 1/3 of the pond water every 10-15 days to ensure the water quality is good to prevent the fry from getting sick. One month after the fry are released, when they weigh about 50g, they are susceptible to viral fin rot, which is extremely harmful to the fish school. You can use 10,000 units of bleach to spray the entire pond for preventive treatment. During the breeding process, spray 4,000 units of crystalline trichlorfon or 6,000-7,000 units of a 5:2 mixture of copper sulfate and ferrous sulfate into the pond to prevent parasitic diseases. Do not feed spoiled or moldy feed to the fish. Regularly add 0.05-0.1% fresh garlic juice to the feed fed to the fry, and add 20-100g of oxytetracycline powder to each kilogram of feed. Feed continuously for 5-7 days to prevent and treat enteritis. During the breeding process, ensure the water is clean and do not use unfermented fertilizers. Sprinkle 2-4g/m3 of gallnut and quicklime water into the pond. Use it every other day and sprinkle it 2-3 times continuously to effectively prevent and treat black body disease. 7. Daily management Inspect the pond every day and change the water frequently to ensure good water quality. If fish fry jump out of the water, it means that the water is too rich and the oxygen content in the water is low. You should inject new water into the pond in time, drain the old water, and put enough live bait into the pond. When the weather is hot and humid or there are thunderstorms, add new water to the pond in time and add oxygen to provide a good growth environment for catfish and promote its growth and development. Catfish is relatively easy to breed. Catfish are not very demanding on water quality and oxygen content. Compared with other fish, it is one of the easier fish to breed. 2. There are many species, the most common ones are catfish (native catfish), big-mouth catfish, bearded catfish (pond catfish), leather-bearded catfish (Egyptian bearded catfish), Hakka commonly known as sliding fish catfish, animal kingdom-chordata-subphylum-chordata-actinidae-siluriformes-siluridae-silurus-catfish species. There are 4 whiskers on the mouth, the upper ones are long and the lower ones are short. They are carnivorous and mostly wild. They do not require high water quality and can be artificially cultivated. The growth rate is fast, and some species can grow to be very large. Big-mouth catfish, animal kingdom-chordata-subphylum-chordata-actinidae-siluriformes-siluridae-silurus-big-mouth catfish species. It looks similar to catfish, with 4 whiskers, but the mouth is very large and the individual is much larger than catfish. It can be artificially bred and grows fast. The fry can grow to 500-750 grams in the same year, 1500-2000 grams in the second year, and 3000-4000 grams in the third year. Most of the catfish sold on the market have ordinary meat and are cheap.
