CATDOLL: What is the appropriate temperature for breeding freshwater fish?

The suitable swimming temperature for freshwater fish in tropical zones is generally 24 to 28 degrees, and other freshwater fish can adapt to a temperature of around 5 to 30 degrees. However, all fish are very sensitive to temperature differences and should not adapt to sudden temperature changes.

The most suitable temperature for growth is around 25 degrees. It should be higher for tropical softwater fish and lower for coldwater fish.

According to the requirements of farmed fish for water temperature, they are classified as follows: For warm water fish farming, the general water temperature is 15-30℃, such as carp, grass carp, silver carp, bighead carp, crucian carp and bighead bream; For cold water sensitive freshwater fish farming, the general suitable temperature is 10-20℃, such as rainbow trout and silver carp; For hot water fish farming, the general suitable temperature is 18-30℃, such as tilapia and freshwater silver pomfret.

Water temperature is one of the most basic and important factors in the aquatic environment. Freshwater fish are cold-blooded animals, and their body temperature and a series of physiological activities are closely related to the water temperature. Water temperature directly affects the body temperature of fish and has an impact on their survival and growth.

Each type of fish has its own optimum temperature and temperature range for growth. The main freshwater fish in southern and northern my country include carp, silver carp, bighead carp and crucian carp. Their suitable growth temperature range is 15℃~32℃, the optimum water temperature for growth is 24±4℃, the suitable water temperature for spawning is 18℃~30℃, and the optimum temperature is 25±3℃. Within the suitable temperature range, rising water temperature can speed up the metabolic intensity of fish, increase the food intake of fish and accelerate growth. When the water temperature is below 15℃ and above 32℃, the appetite of the above-mentioned fish decreases and their growth is slow. When the water temperature is below 10℃, their food intake decreases sharply and they stop eating when the water temperature is below 5℃.
