CATDOLL: The lobster pond is no longer used to raise lobsters. Can we put some lobster seedlings in it?

Fish fry can still be released into rice-shrimp fields and ponds. As fish species that are directly raised together with crayfish, it is required that these released fish cannot pose a threat to the survival of crayfish. Secondly, the survival of these fish cannot conflict with that of crayfish.

So generally speaking, the economic fish we put in rice-shrimp fields or ponds mainly include silver carp, including white lotus and bighead carp, grass carp, carp, crucian carp, etc. Generally speaking, the above fish and crayfish can live in the same area and coexist peacefully. Except for competing for oxygen and food, they generally do not kill each other.

However, in order to achieve the effect of mixed breeding and proliferation, we still need to pay attention to a few points: 1. Requirements on the size of the fry: When releasing these fish, it is recommended to release larger fry. On the one hand, it is easier to keep larger fry, and the growth cycle will be shorter. Small fry will have a much stronger resistance to diseases and external invasions. One point to emphasize here is whether crayfish will eat fry. In theory, crayfish like to eat these fry very much, but in reality, the fry's movement speed is significantly faster than that of crayfish, so crayfish cannot eat these fry.

2. Requirements on the time of stocking: Fish are raised in rice-shrimp fields and ponds. There are also requirements on the stocking time. Due to the particularity of crayfish farming, it starts in April in the spring and lasts until the end of July. This period is the peak season for crayfish fishing. During this period, the ground cages must be lowered and taken out every day. Therefore, it is not suitable to release fish fry during this period, because fish fry often enter the ground cages. Due to the small space, most of the fish fry in the ground cages will suffocate to death due to lack of oxygen, or be pinched or directly killed by crayfish.

I released a lot of silver carp, bighead carp and grass carp fry this summer, but as of today, there are several dead fish fry in the ground traps every day. Most of them were crushed to death by crayfish. Now I feel a little regretful. I should have released the fish fry in August. It is a complete waste of money and experience to release fry now. After August, the crayfish fishing work is basically over, and releasing the shrimp fry at that time can avoid unnecessary deaths and economic losses.

3. The essence of releasing shrimp seedlings into rice-shrimp fields: According to my understanding, the main purpose of releasing corresponding fish seedlings into rice-shrimp fields is not for the value-added effect, but to promote the benign cycle of water quality. For example, silver carp can consume a large amount of organic residues and suspended particles in the aquaculture water body, which can purify the water quality and inhibit the excessive reproduction of blue algae. Grass carp can balance the growth and reproduction of aquatic plants in the aquaculture water body, crucian carp can increase the reproduction of unique animals, and other small fish such as fish, wheat fish, rice shrimp, etc. can purify the water quality to a certain extent. In fact, I personally think that Taoyang is the most suitable place for raising crayfish in rice-shrimp fields. Cage-raising loaches and eels can avoid competing with crayfish for activity space, and physical isolation can avoid mutual harm.

Summary: If you want to specialize in breeding economic fish, it is best to dig deep water ring ditches and inner ridges on the premise of rice field transformation. It may be more effective to specialize in breeding rice fish. There are many fish that can be selected, such as crucian carp, carp, silver carp, and grass carp. You can grow rice and complement fish farming at the same time. Aquaculture pays attention to the scale effect. The larger the area, the higher the profit, but the higher the risk. If it is not your own field, you can consider breeding as long as the rent is cheap.
