The history of artificial shrimp farming is only a few decades old, and the relevant farming technology needs to be further improved. The current pond shrimp production is not high, mainly because the biological characteristics of shrimp are different from other aquaculture species. The differences are as follows: (1) Freshwater shrimp have a high oxygen consumption rate and cannot tolerate low oxygen environments. Their suffocation point is also higher than that of other farmed species. This means that the stocking density of freshwater shrimp should not be too high. (2) Green shrimp are benthic animals with poor swimming ability in water. They spend most of their time climbing and crawling on the bottom and walls of the pond. They can only be distributed in a flat surface and cannot use water in a three-dimensional manner. (3) Freshwater shrimp mature early and have an early breeding period. After more than two months of growth, the shrimp hatched in spring can begin to breed in September of the same year. At this time, the shrimp body is generally about 3 cm, and the smallest shrimp with eggs is only 1.95 cm long. In this way, there are freshwater shrimps of various sizes in a pond. The breeding density of the shrimp pond is difficult to control, and it will eventually affect the commercial size of freshwater shrimp, resulting in a decrease in production. (4) The oxygen consumption rate of shrimp larvae is very high. The shrimp larvae that reproduce in the pond consume a large amount of dissolved oxygen in the pond, causing the dissolved oxygen in the shrimp pond to decrease. The dissolved oxygen in the still water pond is not high to begin with, and the large amount of consumption seriously affects the growth of adult shrimp, reduces the shrimp's meat gain multiple, and reduces the unit output. Therefore, it is necessary to improve the aquaculture technology to overcome the above unfavorable factors and choose the aquaculture pond reasonably, so as to improve the unit output and economic benefits of shrimp farming. |
