CATDOLL: Why does purple moss bloom early?

Red cabbage is also known as "Yun cabbage" and "Purple cabbage". Red cabbage has a long history and has been famous for more than a thousand years. It is a specialty vegetable in Wuhan, my country.

How to plant red cabbage

1. Sowing time:

Generally, sowing is done from July to late September, and the best sowing time is around the end of summer in late August. If sowing is too early, it will be difficult to raise seedlings, and many plants will die after planting, resulting in low yields, spicy moss or bitter taste; if sowing is delayed, there will be fewer dead seedlings, but too late sowing will shorten the harvest period, reduce the number of harvests, and affect the yield.

2. Seedling management:

The seedbed is deep-turned and leveled, and 1-2g is sown per 0 seedbed. To prevent and control diseases in the seedling stage, 50g of 75{bf} Thiophanate-Clark WP can be mixed with about 50kg of fine soil, 1/3 of which is used as the base, and 2/3 of the medicated soil is used to cover the seeds. Keep the soil moist before germination. After germination, in case of high temperature and drought, it is advisable to water in the evening every day, and pay attention to preventing aphids, yellow flea beetles and diamondback moths. The seedling age of very early-maturing varieties is 20-24 days. If it exceeds 24 days, bolting may occur in the seedbed or bolting may occur before the rosette leaves grow after planting. The seedling age of medium-maturing varieties is preferably 25 days, and full-month seedlings should not be planted. Only late-maturing varieties can be planted with full-month seedlings.

3. Fine land preparation and sufficient basal fertilizer:

The plot for planting red cabbage should be dug at least 10 days before planting, so that it can be exposed to the sun more often. Generally, it is ploughed and harrowed twice. Generally, it is ploughed and harrowed again after a few days of exposure. Generally, it is advisable to use ridge planting furrow irrigation, that is, dig furrows at 1-1.2 meters (including furrows) to make furrows, with two rows in one furrow. The furrows of early-maturing varieties can be narrower. Apply sufficient base fertilizer before planting, and apply urea or Cuimu granular compound fertilizer.

4. Planting:

Water the seedbed thoroughly the day before transplanting to facilitate seedling removal. It is best to take the seedlings with soil when transplanting. If not, try to minimize root damage and plant them as soon as possible. Seedlings should not be planted too deep to prevent them from being covered. Water them as they are planted. It is best to irrigate a field thoroughly after planting, but only immersion irrigation is allowed, not flooding. The narrow rows of very early-maturing varieties are 35-40cm, and the narrow rows of early-medium-maturing varieties are 40cm, with a spacing of 30-35cm. If there is early moss before and after transplanting, the main moss can be removed, and nitrogen fertilizer can be applied appropriately. Combined with irrigation to promote seedlings, urea 15kg/667O can be applied.

5. Fertilizer and water management:

Keep the soil moist throughout the growing season, and water promptly when leaves wilt. Apply topdressing 4-5 times during the growing season, 667O with 5-10kg of urea, the second time before closing the row, 667O with potassium chloride plus 10kg of urea, once each when harvesting side moss and sun moss.

6. Pest and disease control:

The main diseases are downy mildew, soft rot, virus disease, black spot, clubroot, etc. For clubroot, attention should be paid to kang soil and crop rotation. The main pests are yellow flea beetle, aphids, cabbage borer, diamondback moth, etc., and attention should be paid to observation and timely prevention and control should be carried out if diseases and pests are found.

Downy mildew: mainly occurs during the growth period of rosette leaves. Spray with 500 times diluted 25{bf} metalaxyl or 600 times diluted 58{bf} gold redomicil.

Virus disease: Spray with 250 times diluted 25{bf} virus A or 300 times diluted 83 resistance enhancer for prevention and control, combined with spraying of Trium amino acid foliar fertilizer potassium or Trium mineral potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution.

7. Harvesting:

When the Chinese cabbage grows to 35-40cm, 2-3 flowers bloom, and a small number of flower buds turn yellow, it can be harvested. Generally, harvesting begins in early October, twice a week in the early stage, and once a week in the later stage when the temperature is low. Harvesting should be done in the afternoon to reduce mechanical damage.

Why does purple moss bloom early?

Tips for growing purple moss

Different varieties of purple moss have different adaptability to temperature. Even for the same variety, the temperature adaptability is different at different growth stages, which increases the difficulty of purple moss cultivation. However, no matter how difficult it is, we need to understand its adaptability temperature before planting. Generally speaking, the temperature of purple moss is best kept at 25 to 30 degrees during germination and seedlings; the suitable temperature should drop by five degrees when purple moss leaves are growing; and the suitable temperature should drop a little in the final growth period of the moss.

In addition to the temperature requirements, purple moss needs sufficient light time and sufficient nutrients when growing. When purple moss begins to form, it is the period when nutrients are most needed. If the nutrients in the soil are insufficient at this time, it may affect the yield and quality of purple moss. Therefore, when purple moss grows to the later stage, it must be checked frequently. Once it is found that purple moss begins to form, nutrients must be added in time to promote the absorption of nutrients by purple moss.

Before planting the purple moss, you need to add some nutrients to the soil so that the nutrients in the soil can be sufficient for the early growth of the purple moss. When sowing, you should also pay attention to the distance between each purple moss. This distance should also be controlled well, neither too dense nor too sparse. If it is too dense, it may lead to insufficient nutrients, and finally the purple moss will not grow well enough.
