On November 20, 2012, a giant Eurasian trout appeared in a fish pond of a fish shop in Fuyuan County, Heilongjiang Province. The fish weighed 41 kilograms, which is about 6 times the weight of an ordinary taimen and is very rare.

The giant Eurasian trout, also known as Taimen, is known for its voracious appetite, eating everything from fish to ducks and muskrats, and had previously suffocated three of its three-metre-long cousins.

Trout, also known as Taimen or Taimen salmon, is one of the five famous fish species in Heilongjiang Province, namely "three flowers and five fish species". Its weight is generally around 6 jin.

The fish caught by Fuyuan fishermen weighed 41 kilograms and was about 1.5 meters long. It had a slender body, a round belly and a flat head.

"This is the first time I've seen such a huge Taimen." Many citizens who rushed to the scene after hearing the news were amazed.
