CATDOLL: The guppy's fins are bleeding

1. The guppy's fins are bleeding

It's just a minor illness at best, it's not that easy to die. Put one thousandth of salt into the fish tank and it will be fine tomorrow. Of course, you can change the water appropriately. After all, this situation is a water quality problem. The water is not clean and there are bacteria. But I don't think it's necessary, because I have encountered this situation many times. My way of dealing with it is to add salt to the water. It will not take more than one day, and the blood will be gone. If there are scars, they will heal in a few days. But there is a situation that if there is no improvement after adding salt for one to two days, that is, the blood is still there, then it means it is quite serious, and it is necessary to change the water at this time.

Every time I change the water, I add some salt to the water, but I also see the situation you mentioned from time to time. Anyway, I always treat it this way and it always works well.

2. What is the cause of bleeding on the guppy's head?

Bleeding disorders

[Causes] The factors that cause fish hemorrhagic disease are relatively complex, generally caused by viral, bacterial and environmental factors:

1. Viruses, bacteria (generally believed to be Bacillus) and parasites invade the fish body, causing damage to the whole body or part of the fish body.

2. Water quality matters. Whether you use tap water, lake water or well water to raise fish, it must be left to stand or be exposed to the sun for 2-3 days before use. If it is used directly without treatment, it may cause congestion of the fins and scales at best, or even kill the fish at worst.

[Symptoms] Congestion, hemorrhage, ulcers, and shedding of scales in the fins (more severe at the base) and scales. In severe cases, there are bleeding in the mouth, eyes, and internal organs. The sick fish float or sink to the bottom and swim lazily. In mild cases, the fish loses appetite, while in severe cases, the fish refuses to eat, has a dull body color, becomes emaciated, has increased secretions, and may develop bacterial saprolegniasis and septicemia and die.

[Season of onset] It can occur throughout the year, especially from June to October.

[Prevention and treatment methods]

(1) In addition to paying attention to the prevention of the above-mentioned pathogenic factors, check for parasites at the bleeding site and remove them if found. At the same time, apply red mercury to the affected area, rinse it in a small basin, and then return it to the original pool (tank) to rest, once a day until it is cured.

(2) Soak the diseased fish in a 10-20 mg/L solution of furacillin or sulfamethoxazole or in 2% to 3% saline for 10 to 15 minutes, then rinse and put it back into the pond (tank) once every other day.

(3) In severe cases, add 1 million units of kanamycin or 80,000 to 160,000 units of gentamicin to 10 kg of water, and keep the fish in the water for 2-3 hours. After half a day, replace the water with new water. Do this once a day, and the disease will usually heal after 2-3 times.

(4) Select 0.5-0.8 g of crystalline dichlorvos, dissolve it in 10 kg of water, and soak the diseased fish for 10-20 minutes.

3. What happened to the ornamental fish that died of bleeding in the cheeks?

Hello, if the ornamental fish bleeds from its gills and dies, it is probably because you recently changed the water in the fish tank. Tap water needs to be exposed to the sun for two days before it can be used. Tap water contains chlorine. Chlorine has a strong oxidizing property and can directly react with most substances except oxygen, carbon, nitrogen and inert gases. Chlorine can react quickly with protein. Excessive residual chlorine in tap water can directly destroy the gills of fish. It can also cause the mucus on the surface of the fish to fall off. The mucus on the surface of the fish is the protective shell of the fish, protecting the fish from bacteria and insects.

4. First aid. Why does my guppy have red gills after being brought home for less than 2 months?

1 The gills of guppies are originally red.

2 Guppies are top-water fish and usually move in the upper layer of water. You can tell this by paying attention to the shape of their mouths. A mouth facing upwards is one of the characteristics of top-water fish.

3 Newly bought fish cannot adapt quickly to changes in the environment and water quality and are unwilling to eat. They will be fine once they adapt.

5. Why do small fish's gills bleed?

Don't be afraid, it's because you were frightened, there's not enough oxygen in the water, or it's too cold, which can cause bleeding.
