Why can't eels be farmed?Eels can be bred artificially, but the most difficult part of artificial breeding is still in the laboratory stage. It will take at least a few years to achieve full-stage artificial breeding of eels. Eels are mainly distributed in the Yangtze River, Minjiang River, Pearl River Basin, Qinglu, Hainan Island and rivers and lakes in China. Eels around the world mainly grow in tropical and temperate waters. Except for the European eel (Anguilla anguilla) and the American eel (Anguilla rostrata) distributed in the Atlantic Ocean, the rest are distributed in the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean. Living habits: Adult eels grow fast, and are round and cone-shaped. They are black and firm. They are mostly farmed and have tender meat. They are common all year round, but are most plump and delicious in summer and winter. Eels are nutritious, delicious, have few bones and are meaty. They have the effects of cooling down, relieving summer heat, and nourishing the body. Migratory fish are born in freshwater rivers, then enter the ocean, and then return to freshwater rivers to spawn when they reach adulthood. Eels, on the other hand, spawn in seawater, and the young fish, which are only the length of a finger and cannot distinguish between sexes, flow into the river until they grow into adults and can distinguish between sexes. After a few years, they return to the ocean to mate and spawn. Eel fry cannot be artificially bred because it has a rather special living habit and it is difficult to artificially simulate its breeding environment. Why are there still people collecting eel fry even though fishing is banned in the ocean?From 0:00 on March 1 to 24:00 on June 30, a comprehensive fishing ban was implemented in the Yangtze River Basin, but some people defied the ban and committed crimes. There were 10 nets with dense mesh used to catch eel fry in the water. Afterwards, law enforcement officers immediately checked their vehicles and rented houses, and found a total of 59 live eel fry and more than 70 nets with dense mesh used to catch eel fry. The person involved, Luan, said that he and Wang had started fishing on March 5, and the eel fry they caught had not been sold yet and had been kept at home.
