CATDOLL: Are there many people raising cockroaches? (Are there many people raising cockroaches? Zhihu)

1. Why can’t cockroaches be widely bred?

Because widespread breeding is difficult, the following points must be achieved: First, insulation: Use greenhouse box breeding methods to maintain a temperature environment of 28℃ to 33℃ throughout the year.

Second, water conservation: Water is more important to cockroaches than food. Cockroaches will die if they are deprived of water for two days during the nymph stage. Water should be kept in the tank at all times.

Three-guarantee food: In order to make cockroaches grow quickly, become strong and have strong reproductive capacity, the feed in the trough must not be cut off, especially at night they must be fed well.

Fourth, we must prevent pesticide damage, disease damage, and natural enemies. In short, breeding cockroaches is not an easy task. Therefore, it cannot be widely bred.

2. What is the market status of cockroach breeding?

The market prospect of breeding cockroaches is promising

When it comes to cockroaches, almost everyone wants to kill them. However, many people don’t know that there are people who specialize in breeding cockroaches, and they have good economic benefits.

1. Medicinal value

Artificially bred cockroaches, mainly the American cockroach species, are mainly sold to pharmaceutical and cosmetic companies in Asia. These companies purchase cockroaches because this species is a cheap source of protein and medicinal substances. Many common burn and gastroenteritis drugs on the market use polyols and peptides in the American cockroach, which are surface cell growth factors.

2. Rapid reproduction

Cockroaches are a tough species that once lived in the same era as dinosaurs. They have very strong vitality. Not only do they reproduce at an amazing speed, but they can also grow in a variety of environments. Generally speaking, they are easy to raise, which is a huge advantage for farmers raising cockroaches.

3. Expensive market price

The life cycle of cockroaches is about six to seven months in a suitable environment. They can be harvested twice a year, and the price of dried cockroaches is as high as 320 yuan per kilogram. Excluding the cost of raising cockroaches, the profit is considerable.

3. How many families have cockroaches at home?

Cockroaches in every home

Cockroaches have a strong reproductive capacity. A mature female cockroach can produce an ootheca containing 14-40 eggs every 7-10 days. The ootheca is a colloid body and hatches between 20℃-37℃. The higher the temperature, the shorter the hatching time. At a constant temperature of 30℃, it only takes 20-30 days, and the longest can exceed three months. A female cockroach can reproduce nearly 10,000 offspring a year, up to 100,000. Under extreme conditions, when there are no male cockroaches, female cockroaches can also lay eggs.

Cockroaches can mate about a week after they emerge from adult form. Male cockroaches can mate many times in their lifetime, but female cockroaches can only mate once or twice. One mating and fertilization can produce eggs for the rest of their lives. The eggs are laid in the egg sheath. The number of eggs varies depending on the species, ranging from a dozen to dozens of eggs, and as many as 50. A fertilized female cockroach can reproduce 20,000 cockroaches in a year. If you see a cockroach during the day, there may be hundreds of them hiding in the cracks. This shows the reproductive capacity and severity of cockroaches.

4. Why don’t many people raise cockroaches?

Why doesn't anyone keep cockroaches?

Because in traditional Chinese thinking, cockroaches are pests, and very dirty pests. In Chinese ideology, it is difficult to accept raising cockroaches. Although there is a kind of large cockroach that can be raised as a pet worldwide, and there are even supplementary foods such as cockroach milk, and cockroach powder as a delicacy to supplement protein, it is still difficult to accept raising cockroaches in China.

5. Is there anyone breeding cockroaches in China? What are the prospects?

The application range of cockroaches is particularly wide. Cockroach extracts are used in pharmaceutical products and research and development; cockroaches are used in the cosmetics industry because of their unique substances; it is reported that in recent years, Malaysia and my country have vigorously developed the breeding of precious aquatic products and rare animals, requiring a large number of cockroaches as bait, so cockroaches are in short supply in the market. At present, cockroaches have become a new business opportunity for many people to get rich.

Although the breeding of cockroaches is relatively simple, if you can fully master the breeding methods, it will definitely reduce your costs and thus increase your profits. Let's take a look at what we should pay attention to when breeding cockroaches.

Cockroach breeding tips:

1. Choose the type of cockroach to raise. There are many species of cockroaches, including American cockroaches, Australian cockroaches and German cockroaches. Among them, American cockroaches are a good choice. This type of cockroach is large in size, has a strong reproductive capacity, is not picky about food, and is a good species for artificial breeding.

2. Pay attention to the breeding form. Cockroach breeding can be roughly divided into two breeding forms, one is mixed breeding with earthworms, and the other is cockroach breeding and mixed breeding with earthworms. The two forms are different. Through practice, it is found that there is not much conflict between cockroaches and earthworms, and they can even produce complementary advantages. When raising earthworms, they will have feed that cannot be eaten on the same day, and these feeds are excellent food for cockroaches, which is beneficial to the production of cockroaches.

3. Environmental factors. Entrepreneurs who raise cockroaches should pay great attention to the airtightness of the house. To prevent cockroaches from escaping from the gaps, they should choose a flat-roofed house, plaster it with cement, and fill the cracks.

6. What is the prospect of cockroach breeding in Luoyang, Henan?

Cockroaches don't sell well in the Central Plains because people have aversion to them. They look disgusting.

7. What do you think of the cockroach breeding project?

It can have medicinal value. It can also clean up kitchen waste, so the benefits are considerable.

1. What are the cockroach breeding techniques?

1. Clay pot breeding method: Choose a clay pot of appropriate size depending on the number of cockroaches to be raised, and place old newspaper rolls or kraft paper rolls in the pot for the cockroaches to live in. Cover the mouth of the pot with a wooden board, preferably a wire mesh. Put drinking water and feed in a fixed position so that the cockroaches can form a conditioned reflex and regularly go to the fixed position to eat. It is best to use a porcelain basin to put the feed in the pot, so that the leftover food will not fall to the bottom of the pot, reducing the difficulty of cleaning.

2. Greenhouse breeding method: Use black plastic cloth to build a greenhouse, and leave screens at both ends for ventilation. In winter, you can use double-layer plastic film for insulation or heating with fire or electric heating. Leave a walkway in the center of the greenhouse. Put a feed trough and a water trough. To prevent cockroaches from falling into the water and drowning, you can put a sponge in the trough. Put some soft materials with gaps or foam boards for packaging eggs on both sides of the greenhouse, or you can put wooden breeding boxes. This method is suitable for large-scale breeding, with low investment and low cost, but it is not easy to catch adults.

3. Wooden box breeding method

① Breeding conditions: The specifications of the breeding box are 70 cm long, 50 cm wide, and 60 cm high, and the cover panel of the box is movable for operation. A small window of 20 cm long and 15 cm wide is built at the front and back, and sealed with iron mesh nails for easy observation and air circulation. There is no bottom plate under the breeding box, which is convenient for cleaning and hygiene. The breeding box is placed in a house with a relatively flat ground. Inside the box, a square wooden strip is nailed on the front and back sides 10 cm away from the box mouth to place a wooden frame. The wooden frame is "U" shaped, and its specifications are made according to the width of the breeding box. The two sides of the frame can be placed on the two wooden strips at the front and back of the box. The wooden frame is covered with paper, and then the wooden frames are stacked one by one in the breeding box to become a residence for cockroaches.

② Feeding and management: Select healthy cockroaches as breeding insects, place them in a breeding box, put in a small amount of feed, and initially feed them with green, juicy, nutritious fruit peels, bread, steamed buns, and rice. Provide sufficient clean drinking water, and feed once every 3 days. It is better to put the feed on the top of the wooden frame in the box, or on the floor at the bottom of the box, while drinking water can only be placed on the floor at the bottom of the box. Cleaning and sanitation work should be done once every 3 days. First, gently move the feed box, clean it, and move it back to its original position, then add feed and change water. Cockroaches lay eggs mostly on the wooden frame paper, and the larvae will hatch after more than a month of incubation.

8. Why are the cockroaches I raise not marketable?

I think there are several reasons why the cockroaches I raise myself are not marketable.

1. Choose America, Dalian is a breeding species, so it can be used as medicine, so it has a certain market in the traditional Chinese medicine market

2. Choose a good sales channel, solve the problem yourself, and let others buy your cockroaches, so that you can sell them

3. Many people have some misunderstandings about cockroaches, thinking that all cockroaches are bad, and you have to change people's perception
