CATDOLL : What are cats' blood types?

Cats have three different blood types: A, B, and AB. In cats, the gene that controls blood type A is dominant, while the gene that controls blood type B is recessive. Blood type AB is a special case, and the gene that controls it is inherited independently.

Cat's blood type distribution characteristics:

1. Cats with type A blood are very common. It can be said that most cats around us have type A blood. It is said that more than 90% of cats in the United States have type A blood. Among the breeds, 100% of Siamese cats have type A blood, 90% of Himalayan cats and Maine Coons have type A blood, and Turkish Angora cats and Turkish Van cats have half type A and half type B blood.

2. The distribution of cat type B blood is not so uniform. It is very common in some breeds and rare in others. It is more common in breeds such as Abyssinian cats, Sphynx cats, Devon Rex cats and Cornish Rex cats.

3. AB type is a rare blood type in any breed, and is only found in breeds with B type. So in life, even when cats need blood transfusions, the problem of blood type is not so obvious, unless your cat has a very rare blood type.
