CATDOLL : What to do if your cat eats chocolate

Cats who have ingested chocolate should take immediate action, as chocolate contains theobromine, which is toxic to cats. Symptoms of mild poisoning may include vomiting, diarrhea, hyperexcitement, and increased heart rate. If you suspect a cat has ingested chocolate, first assess the amount ingested and the type of chocolate (dark chocolate or baking chocolate will contain higher levels of theobromine).

Next, closely monitor your cat's behavioral and physical responses. Most importantly, contact a veterinarian or emergency animal clinic as soon as possible for professional evaluation and necessary treatment.
