CATDOLL: Why do parrot fish show their backs?

1. Sudden change in water temperature. The sudden change in water temperature may be caused by your failure to control the temperature difference between the new water and the old water in the original tank when changing the water; it may also be that you poured the new water in too quickly when changing the water, causing impact on the fish body. If it is caused by these reasons, then you only need to slowly raise the water temperature to 28 degrees, and then adjust the temperature of the new water to one degree higher than the temperature of the old water each time you change the water, and then maintain it. Note that it is best to stop feeding for a few days.

2. Changing too much water can also cause this. In the parrot fish forum, some fish friends have not been raising fish for a long time and have little experience in raising parrot fish, so they change a lot of water each time. For the health of the fish, it is best not to change more than one-third of the water. If this is the reason, then ignore it and ensure that the water is clean, oxygen is sufficient, and the water temperature is constant. You can also add some nitrifying bacteria.

3. Frightened. Parrot fish are naturally timid. If they are attacked by other fish or suddenly frightened, they will also stand upside down. As long as the fish is not sick, they will get used to it after spending a long time with it and get tired of it. It will get better slowly, so don't worry too much.

4. There is also hypoxia. Parrot fish have very high requirements for oxygen and will suffer from hypoxia at any time. Therefore, no matter how big the parrot fish is or how few fish are raised, an oxygen pump is indispensable.

5. Water quality deterioration may also cause inversion. As the saying goes, good water breeds good fish. If the water is not good, it is normal for fish to develop diseases. As long as you pay attention to regular water changes, remember to trap the water before changing the water, and have a strong filtration system, the health of the fish is guaranteed.

6. If the parrot fish is sick, its back will be exposed. If the nervous system, swim bladder and other organs of the parrot fish are infected by bacteria or invaded by parasites, it will cause motor dysfunction. If you want to solve the problem at this time, you need to take internal parasites and antibacterial drugs, and use Pokémon methylene blue for treatment. Note that these are not the only two causes mentioned here, there are other causes, so you must treat the symptoms!

7. Parrot fish spawning. This point should not be ignored. During the spawning period, parrot fish will peck at the bottom of the tank with their mouths, showing their heads facing down. They mainly use their mouths to clear out the ground for their own spawning. This is a normal phenomenon. If you encounter this phenomenon, don't panic. Ensure the water quality and clean it up after the fish lays eggs. Leaving it there will not allow reproduction, but will affect the water quality. This kind of back exposure often occurs at the same time as the parrot fish's swollen belly. They are both signs of spawning, so you can pay attention to it.

The first time I heard the term "backless", I wondered if it meant showing some flesh?

Parrot fish is a very aggressive fish and will often suffer injuries from fights. If the flesh is exposed, it is mostly caused by a fight. You can observe it.

Isolation and yellow powder bath can cure the disease.
