CATDOLL: Is the bamboo fish a freshwater fish? Can it be raised in a fish tank?

1. Is the bamboo fish a freshwater fish? Can it be raised in a fish tank?

Bamboo shoots are freshwater fish because they live in rivers, lakes, reservoirs, ponds and other freshwaters. In some freshwater basins with relatively clear water, there are more bamboo shoots. Since bamboo shoots are not particularly good at swimming, they generally live in water depths of no more than 2 meters. They are bottom-dwelling, cave-dwelling fish. There are many bamboo shoots in the mud at the bottom of the water, the caves on the shore, and the cracks in the sand and gravel. 1. Is bamboo shoot a freshwater fish? Bamboo shoots refer to the common name of fish of the genus Channa, which are relatively common in many Southeast Asian countries and Australia. From their living environment, they are a kind of fish that lives in freshwater, so they belong to a kind of freshwater fish. Freshwater fish is relative to marine fish. Bamboo shoots are not fish that live in the ocean, so they are not marine fish. From the specific distribution point of view, bamboo shoots can live in freshwaters such as rivers, lakes, reservoirs, ponds and other freshwaters with relatively clear water quality.

Since the swimming ability of bamboo shoots is not very good, from the perspective of the depth of distribution, bamboo shoots live in relatively shallow water, generally not more than 2 meters. From the perspective of habit characteristics, bamboo shoots are also a bottom-dwelling fish, so they are more common in freshwater basins that are not too deep. Especially near the bottom of the silt, you can often see some bamboo shoots living. In addition, you may also find some bamboo shoots in some caves or cracks in sand and gravel near the shore.

2. Can bamboo fish be raised in a fish tank? As mentioned above, the main distribution areas of bamboo fish are Southeast Asia and Australia. In addition to bamboo fish living in the wild, they can also live under artificial breeding conditions. When breeders breed them, they usually do it on a large scale, using a relatively large breeding pond, and then placing a lot of fry in it. At this time, the water depth and water temperature are easier to control. Therefore, generally speaking, they will not be raised in a fish tank. If you must put them in a fish tank, you need to prepare a larger fish tank.

It is a bottom-dwelling cave fish, often living in the mud or grass at the bottom of rivers, reservoirs, and ponds with clear water or slight currents, and also often living in cracks in the sand and stones, caves, and debris on the shore. It has a weak swimming ability and cannot swim fast or long distances.

It is active at night and likes to hide in the mud during the day. The suitable temperature range is 15-35℃, and the most suitable temperature for Sophora japonica bark is 25-30℃. A large number of them die below 10℃. It can adapt to acidic water with a pH value of 5 and brackish water with a pH value of 15‰. It is difficult to catch it in nature.
